Star Skate — Attraction in Shawnee

This place was a huge rip OFF! My daughter had her 6th birthday party here today 3-8-2025 if I had known they closed from 5-7 on Saturdays I would have booked for an earlier party, we booked for the 3-4:30. We paid for the star party package we had 90 minutes to eat pizza (7 total) which cost extra, do birthday cake & for her to open gifts, I called ahead of time to order the pizza so it would be ready by 3 & we still had to wait 20 minutes for the pizza to be done but my biggest issue is they still let me add on extra skater’s to our ticket even though they were closing in 20 minutes the package covers 12 skaters we had to add on 6 extra skaters that’s $11 each extra skater.. the worker that was talked to about this said that it says online that they close between 5-7 online, they are right, it does but it should also state that in the booking packages that they are closed on Saturday from 5-7 (I didn’t look at the google times I just went straight to the booking information) that gave us 20 minutes to skate after eating & gifts. We basically paid $300 for us to eat & watch our daughter open her gifts.. I should also add that in the booking package it says PARTY TABLE RESERVATION WILL LAST 90 MINUTES DURING A PUBLIC SESSION. GUESTS MAY SKATE THE ENTIRE PUBLIC SESSION TIME, BOTH BEFORE OR AFTER THE PARTY TABLE RESERVATION TIME. I’m just upset that it’s not stated in the package that they close Saturdays from 5-7 & that they still let me add on the extra skaters with out saying they are closing in 20 minutes.

Beware of the music videos the play on the big projector!!!!

We went on a Thursday for a kids birthday 10 year old. Most of the kids there were 14 or less and dropped off by their parents. At one point they were playing a music video that had a pile of naked women dancing laying on their backs and then Beyoncé and some guy being very naked and intimate…… this video was way more than PG 13 and as a skate rink advertised for kids this was completely inappropriate. I guarantee parents don’t expect or approve of that. And definately not this mom with a 6 and 8 year old there tagging along that evening at 7. They only get 2 stars because when I asked them to turn it to something more appropriate the young girl tried to justify that kids can see this stuff anywhere. They did change it but I was told as soon as we left they turned it back on. Management needs to set some boundaries to guide these young people they hire to...

I would say this is a nice establishment for skating but I would say the workers have no manners. One of the younger workers who seems about 16. I asked her how can I buy one of the skate mates and instead of saying that it was too short and could be dangerous for me to skate with. She said “no offense but these are for very young kids.” I feel like it is unprofessional and inappropriate the way she said it. Seems no one has explained to her about good customer service or manners. And I confronted her about it and she re explained herself again and saying it is too short and could be dangerous.
