Very cool place. First of all, all the employees we encountered were very nice and helpful. They're only seem to be a few, but they were working hard. I know every place is kind of shorthanded right now, so awesome that they can keep this place open. This park has a large parking lot, and we went early to try to beat the rush. For the first hour and a half or so it was not busy at all. They do require life vests if going on the equipment, which is an awesome extra safety precaution. This is especially good because there are not lifeguards. If just using the beach and staying in the shallow, they're not required. The water was fairly warm, and the equipment was in very good shape. Sturdy. Kids appear to have a good time, although to forewarn you, the equipment is slippery due to the water. Nothing you can really do to fix that, and my kids didn't seem to mind, but they probably fell dozens of times. I probably would have died. True story. The beach does have a variety of different types of lawn chairs available- bonus you don't have to drag your own here, yay! As it got to be later in the day, it did get busier. Warmer too. There are restrooms in the main building, a variety of snacks for sale- candy, chips, ice cream, and a couple of kayaks you can take...
Read moreWe weren't sure what to expect. I can't say I didn't have fun, but if you are thinking of going on the inflatables, make sure you have some agility and upper body strength. I was able to get on the inflatable with a boost from my hubby. My 11 y.o. daughter needed a boost on some of the things too. There are other things to do too: Kayaking, stand-up boards or just hanging out in the deep in your life vest was ok too. We arrived about an hour after they opened: this is just my observation, but I would have hosed the sand down from the bathrooms. Also, I would have sent staff out with a broom to wipe duck poop off inflatables....that's just me...I might be a little over the top...Also, they only have one shower if you're not a local and they're busy that would suck. I wouldn't mind seeing showers that I have to pay for like the Wolf River tubing trips that we take every year. We plan to come back next year and my goal is to be able to pull myself up on the inflatables and maybe go kayaking. So,...
Read moreCould be better, not a bad place for young kids. Shallows are warm, but messy and unpleasant in areas. Just algae, so harmless, but not particularly fun to swim in. They've blocked off most of the old swimming area in favor of their inflatables, which is a loss in my book.
So if you're looking for a clean beach to hang out on while your young ones waddle in shallow water, its not bad.
If your slightly older kids dig the inflatable, its reasonable enough.
If you're looking for a decent place to swim as an adult, it's not that. You can't. You can rent a stand up paddleboard or a kayak and go around the deep area, but you can't swim there either
I saw a review where they suggested stopping by during non-operational hours and do as you please, might not be a bad suggestion.
Please treat our quarry with respect and clean up after yourself, it's a...
