What an amazing experience we had on Sunday with Reanna. I bought the tickets for my partners birthday as he has been obsessed with wolves as long as I have known him and I was running out of books on the subject to gift him! We heard about this place on a news segment some months previously. I was able to get a reservation very quickly and affordably (seriously this is a very affordable adventure to have!) I double checked they would be running even with the "snow storm" we were having this past weekend and got a response quickly. We bundled up and made the short drive from Tacoma. We were welcomed into a very cute little gift shop/check in area by the resident pup, Togo (sp?), who was an absolute love bug and Reanna with a bright smile and hellos. We got nice and cozy, checked in and shopped the nice offerings while waiting for the other group members to arrive. What an absolute treasure of warmth and knowledge Reanna is! It's very clear she loves her animals, they love her and that the wolves are treated with the utmost care and respect as is the land they are on. Beautiful, easy to walk trails and a fire pit at the end to keep us warm. I learned so much and while I have previous knowledge of wolf life from a family member who works with them, I felt like I walked away with so much new information and a whole new appreciation for the animal and how they live and contribute to both the animal and human society. At the end we got to hang out with the youngest wolf pup and I even got a sweet kiss and gave lots of belly rubs to the little one. So freaking cool y'all. I already want to come back in the summer to see how the youngest member of Roam grows up and to see more of the wolves during the warmer weather. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone interested in learning about the species, the care of them, their quirks and how they have been a huge part of American history. My partner hasn't stopped talking about it to everyone in the last day and I know we both cherished the time we had there. We will...

Both of which are a delightful sight to see as the animals play and cool off.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe tour at Roam was the highlight of our trip to the Olympic Peninsula! Jodi, Reanna, and the rest of the team have built a beautiful sanctuary for their wolfdogs. They clearly hold the wolfdogsā wellbeing as their top priority. It was a pleasure to visit a sanctuary with such happy animals.
The facility is modern, with a lovely office and gift shop where we received complimentary tea, coffee, cocoa, and bottled water. The paths throughout the sanctuary were easy to walk and tidy, over a flat terrain.
We took this tour with our eight-year-old stepdaughter. There was a younger child on the tour as well. All guests, old and young, were engaged throughout the 1.5-hour-tour. We slowly walked the path that weaved through the large enclosures and stopped to learn about each wolfdog at the sanctuary and lots of facts about wolves and wolfdogs. At the end of the tour, Reanna brought one wolfdog, Riggs, out of his enclosure so we could have a closer look. He seemed happy to come out of his enclosure and comfortable around humans.
I know a fair amount about environmental conservation and ecosystems, but I still learned a lot about wolves, their importance to ecosystems, and wolf conservation.
My husband, stepdaughter, and I are excited to return! Iāll be recommending Roam to friends and...
