10/9/22 Nice hidden gem in the city. Non motorized fishing and hiking trails available. 11/27/23 This former city park is now a part of the Red River Wildlife Refuge and as such is now managed as a nature preserve. You wouldn't find grills, a playground or picnic tables. You will find hiking trails, flora, fauna and wildlife including deer and a variety of birds.. The hiking trail is an easy out and back approximately 2.75 mi. A great trail for kids. Fishing is allowed with a onsite self permit. This preserve is prone to severe flooding considering its proximity to the Red River. (Photos from 11/27/23

C. Bickham Dickson is in need of an upgrade. Maybe picnic areas, more lake access, the dock they put in is pretty nice but it's over crowded and there is only maybe 30yards of total bank access to the lake. The rest is not easy to access. Recently I've seen deer there. Maybe feeders or put some deer crossings on the gates. I love the location and have high hopes for this lake. Hopefully it's soon taken care of.

This park is "closed". The road is blocked of so you can not drive on it....which makes it perfect to walk or ride a bike on. The "road" is heavily shaded. We saw lots of cool bugs and foliage. I bet it would be a perfect spot to do a fall photo shoot. They have a dock where you can fish...with a permit. No actual parking spots or a public bathroom....but it’s peaceful.

Bickham Dickson Park is a place I used to go in between classes while attending LSUS. Some friends and I would go throw a football, hang out, and waste time. The lake section (split by a frisbee golf course) was nice and peaceful enough. We even fished a few times.

At least we did, until we noticed all the strange, creepy men backing up into parking spots and staring us down as we arrived. Little did I know that these are mostly men who have been previously arrested in Bickham Dickson Park for exposing themselves and soliciting sex, even from people who are completely unreceptive to their advances.

Long story short: this park is used as a meet-up place for men seeking sexual encounters. These men burn holes through you with their eyes the entire time you're there. It doesn't feel safe.

They've ruined a nice, peaceful park by turning it into a disgusting hook-up zone. I don't know why they're using the park for this, or if they even realize how unsafe they make people feel, but um guessing it doesn't...
