It is so refreshing to see the library truly trying to engage children as 21st century learners. I love that they have more of a social media presence and are doing so many STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) based events. While I understand that many are used to just showing up to events at the library, I understand the importance of registering for these events as supplies must be requisitioned and I can appreciate that the library is fiscally responsible enough to only buy what is needed. As someone who lives in Palominas, I cannot express how useful it is to be able to find out what is going on at the library through facebook rather than having to go to the library to discover it. Also, it is great that there is an online offering for those of us who use digital devices to read books. Finally, I find it commendable that the library is focusing on helping students understand information literacy and how they can independently find, assess, analyze, share and curate information from all different sources. Kudos to Ms. Scherrer and the library staff for really bringing us into the...
Read moreI love this not so little library ❤️ all the friendly staff and helpfulness and basic resources you could imagine, and then some. Study rooms, kid play area, computers, tablets, and printers. Kiosks for easy check out and even bicycles available with plenty of pamphlets to explore the area outside. Plenty of events and groups are going on all month every month. The selection of books here is great also. There are magazines, audiobooks, books in braille, dvds and more. I also love the little bakery available in the lobby hall, mon-fri 9a-2p.
My favorite thing was seeing the adult study section area having single computers with little wooden built-in play pin style side attachments for people who may bring little littles with them. Talk about pretty close to the...
Read moreThe children's events they host should be more inclusive. Registration for events? Seriously? And holding "open" events that you still turn people away from because you're full? How about doing more activities outdoors for us all to enjoy when you have a 5-year-old with cabin fever and nothing to do? Or better yet, hold events throughout the week since its summer vacation and the kids are out. Story time is nowhere near being fun anymore either. We used to go weekly when Miss Megan was there. She made it so much fun for the kids. After the new chick showed up, we went once and never again. Since the new children's librarian came on board things have changed dramatically and not...
