The Gila Cliff Dwellings Visitor Center is a great first stop before heading up to the ruins. There is a wheelchair ramp that goes up to the the visitors center and ADA parking. The staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful. They gave us information on the trail and even told does about a few other places that we might care to visit after we visited the cliff dwellings. The small museum inside contains lots of history and information on the Mogollon culture. The displays give helpful context. There is also a short video that is worth watching before driving to the Cliff Dwellings site. There are clean restrooms here, a nice little gift shop with books and souvenirs, water bottle refil stations, and shaded picnic area. to relax before or after your visit. It’s also a good place to check trail conditions and get advice about the drive and hike. I definitely recommend starting here to get the most out...

One of the rangers inside is an expert on the local wildlife and we learned a lot about some of the cool animals. She also knew a lot about the minerals and crystals in the area, which you’re allowed to take home (as long as it isn’t within the small protected area where...
