This is a beautiful trail - abounding in wildlife. I saw heron, deer, numerous birds...all in the first half-mile. The tread is a bit sandy due to horse traffic, but not bad. The hot springs are a bit disappointing. They are very shallow - even laying on your back you probably could not cover your body. That's a minor gripe to a beautiful trail.

This is a really beautiful hike, especially when you get back into Jordan canyon. A lot of camping spots. A lot of water crossings. I hike back to Jordan hots springs and camped for the night then hiked back out. Only had the weekend. It was 9 miles in and 9 out. Pretty easy trail overall. My favorite trail in the Gila Wilderness & "go to" day hike. Gets hot in summer so start early. Goes up 2 miles in a shadeless high desert then descends two miles into a shaded, watery small canyon (Bear Canyon) that connects to the Middle Fork at a nice spot. Way back - up in the shade, down in the sun.

Not an easy trail by any means. Get ready to get your feet wet and walk miles with wet feet. There's no way around it. There's about 137 River crossings in total. I would recommend doing it in the dry season. Maybe the water is a little lower. The sights are breathe taking though. You will encounter rock formations and caves along the way that can't compare to anything...
