We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Georgetown Loop Railroad in Georgetown, Colorado, during their Fall Festival, and it was an unforgettable experience for our entire family! This charming and scenic train ride is the perfect way to enjoy Colorado’s stunning autumn colors, and we couldn’t have chosen a better time to go. The aspens were at their peak, with golden leaves shimmering in the sunlight, making for some truly spectacular views. The kids had an absolute blast! The Fall Festival had something for everyone, especially the little ones. They were thrilled to receive treats and candy at different points throughout the day, which definitely kept them smiling. They were also excited to pick out their very own free pumpkins, which added a festive touch and made for some wonderful family photos. The ride itself is about 1.5 hours round trip, which we found to be just the right amount of time. It gave us plenty of opportunities to soak in the beautiful scenery without feeling too long for the kids. The train cars are open-air, which adds to the experience and lets you fully enjoy the crisp mountain air. However, I would definitely recommend dressing warmly, as it can get quite chilly, especially during fall. We layered up, and it made a big difference in our comfort. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about our experience at the Georgetown Loop Railroad Fall Festival. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the activities were engaging, and the scenery was breathtaking. If you’re looking for a family-friendly fall outing in Colorado, this is a must-do! We’re already looking forward to coming back next year.

We went here in July because it was advertised as social distancing friendly, masks required, passengers seated 6ft apart, open air cars etc. This was a blatant lie, beware all, I can only assume the people in charge of this don’t believe the virus is serious etc. After purchasing tickets you get a chance to have your photo taken by an employee who will invite you to take off your mask despite the state order being in place requiring them in all public places and the employee taking your photo not being 6ft away. Then you’ll stand in line where no one will stay 6ft apart and no employees will do anything about it, with half of people not wearing masks properly or not having them at all. When you get on the train they don’t require it to be on your face none the less on properly to board. They’ll give one single announcement at the beginning about the state order and then proceed to never tell anyone to wear them again. You’ll be sat in staggered groups but each group will directly overlap the next and you’ll be face to face with someone 2-3ft in front of you if you’re at the edge of your group and you guessed it, odds are that person will not be wearing a mask. The family who happened to be across from us were one of the ones who didn’t even have a mask to put on if required as far as we could tell. When crew would walk down the middle of the train past 90% of passengers not wearing it at all or around their necks/off an ear etc, we asked if they had any intention of enforcing the mask mandate. To which they replied it’s illegal for them to do so 🤦🏻‍♀️ I asked if they’ll even ask anyone and they said they weren’t allowed. They’ll remind you 8 different times not to stand up, not to stick an arm out, and several other rules and regulations, but never once indicate to anyone that they have any intention of expecting them to social distance or keep their masks on. Beware this organization and its ignorance. There was no sign of disinfecting of the cars between groups either so it’s a nightmare just waiting to happen. I’m sure we never would have experienced an issue if we had visited outside COVID but having seen the blatant disregard for passenger safety, many of which are elderly, we won’t be having anything to do with them in the future and someone should report them to the state because they’re most definitely out of compliance with intent to do so. We wouldn’t have even gone if we hadn’t seen their specific advertisement about how social distancing friendly they were. We just moved to the area in February and had been hoping for a chance to take advantage of the opportunity but now it just feels sleazy and we...

This is great! If you love seats hot enough they burn bare skin, no protective covering at all on the seats. But if you love pain this is the ideal set up.

The Smokestack is amazing particularly if you love smoke that produces a bunch of coal chunks that gets in yours and your children's eyes, and feels like a swarm of insects bombarding your face and skin. Sunglasses help! If you love getting sunburned bypass the sheltered awnings and be required to sit in the sun! No option offered to sit in shade, you have to sit where you're told. Again, if you love burning hot seats this isn't a problem.

May I reccomend awnings for carts or at the very least the choice to choose between direct sunlight and shade. If the only option is sunlight, maybe reccomend people use sunscreen.

For those who love having their eardrums feel like they're going to explode, sit near the whistle, it is sure to take away any chance of looking at the beautiful scenery, much less take pictures, because your hands will be occupied plugging your ears. I reccomend EAR PLUGS! Especially for those sitting under the whistle. But if you enjoy gaining mild headaches then the closer you sit to the whistle the more this will ensure the desired effect. If you're a smoker, then I reccomend riding right behind the smokestack it will make you feel right at home, and if you're asthmatic its the best way to irritate your lungs and prepare you for the headache to follow towards the end.

Like being coerced into purchasing family photos? Look no further than the entrance into the train where you Will be obligated to take one and them bamboozled into paying for it at the end of the ride. Although the keychains are alright. Most folks love to be asked permission, but this isn't the place for those who would rather have that option.

The scenery is GORGEOUS! Guide was very knowledgeable of the local histroy and I really enioyed the ghost stories. Those parts were entertaining and lacked the ability to distract folks long enough to...
