Rating Explanation: -1 star for a door that didn't latch, only had 1 of 2 working locks, and did not have a key for us -1 star for paying over $100 with squeaky floor and detached and separate toilet and sink The room, hotel, location, breakfast, and other amenities are great (besides aforementioned items).
The hotel was just off the interstate, which was very convenient for us since we had 2 kayaks on the truck and I was tired of driving. The owner provided great instructions for where to park, how to gain access to the hotel, and where the room was.
The owner wanted to maintain the original look and feel of the hotel (being 130+ years old), but updated the rooms and provided good amenities. With the hotel being so old, the floor squeaked with every step, at least our bedroom door didn't latch (and only 1 out of the 2 locks worked), the toilet was in its own room, the tub and sink were in their own room, and they added electrical wires in conduit on the outside of the walls (probably to avoid tearing apart the walls).
We never saw the owner or her friend, and we never received a key to our bedroom door lock, so we had to leave the door completely unlocked while we were out. Though I reasonably trust the other strangers on the second floor (without ever meeting them), having the privacy and security that a locked room would provide removed from the options, I was not pleased.
We had bacon and egg quiches, oatmeal, coffee, Simply Orange orange juice, and fruit for breakfast, all of which was wonderful. The breakfast room had a table with 4 chairs around it, so it wasn't as welcoming for other guests to join as other possibilities, but the table and chairs worked well for the room.
Our bedroom and the common areas were all clean.
The bedrooms are small, so the bed in our room (#2) was pushed against the wall. This caused problems for me because I was against the wall and didn't want to disturb my wife while she was sleeping so I could get out of bed. The bed itself was super comfortable, and the linens were great.
Overall, I had a great time at the hotel. I rated 3/5 stars because of the price and inconveniences. The hotel would be worth 5/5 if they fix the door issues and the...
Read moreTalk about an amazing place!!! We absolutely loved it. The beds are so very comfortable (I secretly wanted to take the bed, sheets and pillows home lol) Lauren is a gracious host, and I could have stayed and talked to her for days. I feel blessed to have been a guest in her home. That is how she treated my hubby and I, like valued guests. As far as the house... from the moment my feet crossed the threshold, I was in awe. It is truly a time capsule but not dirty, dusty and old. No way, this place was clean and fresh and so "old timey awesome". The crooked floors are totally cool and original wallpaper 4 layers thick from time after time (since 1880) of being redecorated. We stayed in room 4 and while it was supposed to be a full size bed, it seemed much bigger, actually really large and my husband and I slept GREAT! The breakfast was grab and go breakfast burritos this particular morning, but a hot, home cooked breakfast was offered. Lauren makes homemade muffins, but we left really early as I was on a time crunch. And I couldn't wait for them. So bummed i missed out because I bet they are awesome too, like everything else here. Such care put unto everything. She also makes cookies, (which I did try because she makes accommodations for folks like us, and they were sooooo good) Even though we were up at the crack of dawn, she came down before we were leaving to see if we needed anything and to see if we wanted anything, and a Next time we are ANYWHERE in the area we will stop and be blessed again by staying here. THIS IS MORE OF AN EXPERIENCE THAN A HOTEL and it's amazing! You...
Read moreI am very pissed off about the service. I emailed this hotel June 4th 2024 inquiring about a room available for three people for Saturday June 15th. I am going to cedaredge Colorado for my grandmother's funeral and wanted to stay in the town that my great great grandfathers John Ferrero and Carlo Varello immigrated to when they came from Italy. I was told they had availability in the entire hotel and asked me what I was looking for. I responded back within minutes of receiving their email. I never received a response back. I reached out to them again and still no response. It is now Thursday June 13th and I still haven't heard anything so I decided to call and inquire about the availability. The lady that picked up seemed put off . I was told that the hotel is very busy and that there was only two full beds left in the entire hotel in each room containing one bed and I am unable to put an air mattress for the third person in one of those rooms. I have been looking forward to staying in silver plume where my family once lived and a hotel that promised that had rooms available for me and my family in one room. I called back because I decided to book the last two rooms that were available and asked to leave a message for the manager owner of the hotel and I was hung up on. I have continued to try and call back to finish my reservation that she said that I could make and it goes straight to voicemail. I left a voicemail and waiting for a call back. I will keep trying as this was the place I was looking forward to staying at and hotel availability in that area is...
