A very busy lake with great views of Black Butte.

I started the hike around the lake at the day use area and went counterclockwise.

This side of the lake offers the views of Black Butte and Three Finger Jack.

I encountered a number of bike riders on the trail.

A number of campgrounds and boat launches surround the lake, which makes the water and trail very busy with people.

The trail takes you to a parking lot as it turns to the other side. Cross the bridge as you walk through the lot.

The trails ends near the Suttle Lake Lodge, which has a boathouse.

The trail is about 3.1 miles and takes less then two hours.

A nice lake with great views, but very crowded with campers and boaters.

Located about 15 miles from Sisters...

Really nice place to stop on your journeys. Camping here is a blast too. I've never tried out the lodging or dining, usually just camp. Facilitt are well kept. During peak seasons the trash at the dumpsters can come to the point of overflowing. At a place that posts 'Bear Country' warnings, this seems like an oxymoron. This has never been a problem in year's past. So many people enjoying this beautiful area and leaving so much behind. Sleeping bags, empty boxes, broken chairs, ect... There is plenty that could be packed out. But hey, many (most) of the folks visiting this area aren't native or locals and don't care about land stewardship. Oh well! Enjoy...

We only stopped in here for a few minutes in the way to scout lake (lost my eye glasses there today). We cannot wait to be able to reserve a cabin or a room at the lodge once covid is not so omnipresent. The lake is quite pretty and the resort is so reminiscent of summer camp. You can still order food down by the boat rentals an inside the beer wine and sundries choices are great ! They have a full menu (burgers and the like) they also make fresh squeezed citrus cocktails. The lake is very windy or the tendency to be windy. Limited beach space from what we saw in sure there is more near the camp grounds. Great for big kids...
