Little Platte Park — Attraction in Smithville

Great for 4th of July to see the fireworks. Only costs $5 per vehicle, unless you have a boat, then of course its more. Would be a really nice park, but it has issues that need to be addressed. 1st, not a lot of shade. You better get there early to get shade and a table. They need more grills also. 2nd, the swim beach sucks. Muddy and rocky, when you get further out past the booyes there is some trash on the floor of the lake, beer can cans, plastic, even found a nasty muddy shirt. 3rd, would be nice if they opened the gate so you can drop off your stuff at your site. Then you can go and park in the parking lot. 4th, maybe put in some sheltered tables with grills. 5th, how about stocking the lake with fish. Its a lake near a densely populated area. Me & a friend were standing outside our cars & we noticed a Clay County sheriff pulled up & parked catty corner from where I was parked. When we were getting in our cars to leave she pulled away & went back out the way she came from & drove off like she was going to check out another area of the park then turned around & sat at the corner of the road she went down & sat til i went passed then she followed closed behind me til I got to the entrance of the park & turned to leave & she turned right really slow toward the boat dock to make sure I was leaving then she sped away I felt like I was being harassed for no reason at all because the...
