Yesterday, my husband and a neighbor and I went to the fair at Jim Miller Park. To our disappointment, we arrived at 1:00, when everything was ending. We had no idea that Senior Day was from 9-1. We were still allowed to enter the grounds, but all the food stands and rides were closed, as well as the livestock areas, and two of the vendor exposition halls. We were allowed to see ONE exposition hall, before it was announced it would also close in five minutes. We were able to view arts and crafts and plants for maybe 15 minutes and then had to leave that hall. We were told everything would open at 4:00. Since we didn't want to wait for two hours in the heat and wait for things to reopen, we left. If the people who plan this, really want to please many seniors, start the Senior Day at 12 noon, open up the rides, and sell the regular food that is sold to everyone. I wasn't interested in going to the fair to get a free breakfast or to play bingo. Those two activities don't bring back any memories of the fairs I used to go to. Yesterday was very...
Read moreHello let start by saying that the fair was great! On the other hand cobb county police were not very pleasant. I went to the fair with a broken foot and of course with a boot. After leaving the fair i ask the officer if i could get picked up by the front entrance to save me a long walk back to my vehicle. He said yes so i waited. My wife walked to the parking lot about 1/4 away. When she tried to turn right towards the front entrance the other officer jumped! Out of his vehicle and started screaming at my wife!!! And told her she couldn’t turn that way although traffic was moving on the same direction. She told him if she could please turn so she can pick her husband up that had a broken foot and he was waiting by the entrance. Officer was so rude! And told her to find another way around or have me walk to meet her that it wasn’t his problem and she couldn’t turn!! Had the worst experience out of an officer! And last time i’ll be going to the Jim Miller fair at least with a...
Read moreWho doesn't like the North Georgia State Fair. The food is way overpriced though. Had some great bourbon chicken. Don't get the veggies with it. The potatoes were mush, the onions were good though. It came with mushrooms which were probably good but I don't like mushrooms. Go with the roasted corn. I didn't try it but it looked delicious and many were eating it. The line was very long otherwise I would have gotten some. The turkey legs were $22 each but also looked delicious. Love fair food! Go early to avoid the crowds and don't go if it's windy bc they shut a lot of rides down. If you want 1/2 off admittance, O'Reilly sells tickets. Ride tickets are high, however, unlimited rides are $30/person. Be prepared to stand in line at least 30 min and longer the later it gets. Cheapest place to get soda is closer to large builder on the south end. Bottled sodas are $3 ea. Have...
