This was the first stop on a day trip up to the valley that I took a few weeks ago. From the moment you pull up into their giant bus-friendly parking lot you can tell it errs on the more commercial side, so i was somewhat skeptical from the start, but overall we had a nice time at Jacuzzi.
We got there around 10:30 and were immediately accommodated by a member of their staff. She was very hospitable and knowledgeable about the wines without seeming too overbearing and even threw in the chocolate port wine shots at no extra charge. From reading the other reviews it looks like the staff is pretty hit or miss. Hard to complain much though when there's no tasting fee.
Their tasting menu is pretty extensive -- you choose to taste 5 out of a list of roughly 20 or so -- and there is also an olive oil / bread tasting section on the right-hand side of the big room when you enter. They sell a ton of random "wine related crap" like glasses, tacky tshirts that read "merlot" in rhinestones, books etc. The wine was decent -- in particular I liked the port -- and seemed generally reasonably priced ($20-40 ish per bottle if I recall).
We did not get a chance to go to the back area where the actual vineyard is located. There was a big bus group of bros that rolled up as we were leaving, so they seem willing to accommodate large parties. I'd recommend going earlier in the day since it's somewhere I can envision getting pretty packed and as such the service may decline.
I'd possibly stop back by if I were with another smaller group (5 or fewer) but wouldn't put it atop my list of must-visit wineries. I don't understand how anyone could give it fewer than 3 stars -- y'all, it's free wine -- but the overly commercial / touristy-seeming tasting room feel was somewhat of a...
Read moreSo, this was a strange experience for me. I certainly had different expectations from my experiences at other wineries outside of the United States. I reserved online for a specific time, table service only, vineyard views and charcuterie. The building and grounds are incredible and I hope our experience was a me off otherwise it’s a shame. We got to reception 5 minutes early and weren’t acknowledged by anyone for over 10 minutes l, when we finally went over to a person at a local information desk to see if we were standing in the right spot. Finally ushered to a table right in the front lobby area. And our wine “tasting” started. I didn’t clue until later that o didn’t sign up for wine tasting and we finally had to ask when we would get to have the charcuterie board and sit outside to enjoy the vineyard and our hostess was confused right before our time was up. So disorganized! She did say stay as long as you want and make our way out to the vineyard but go around as there was a private function going on. We were very quiet and were attempting to go around the event unnoticed when an obnoxious employee running the private event called us out and said we couldn’t be back here this was a private event and the area was off limits. I was taken aback and even more confused as to why this place offers reservations and no one has a clue. We eventually made it back to the vineyard view but were left with a feeling of awkwardness. The experience was off putting and in my opinion the wines I tasted were mediocre. Normally at a winery you feel spoiled and sophisticated but just not so today. I did however love the olive oils and vinegars for purchase onsite and the...
Read moreMy husband and I have been visiting Jacuzzi for probably over a year now periodically. We’ve attended a couple of events such as gelato Sundays last summer and tasting olive oil and balsamic vinegar. But finally went for a walk-in wine tasting this past weekend. Every time we’ve visited including for wine tasting has been amazing! The staff is so friendly! For example, John is so kind to us every time, he likes my husband beard which I think is cool. For the wine visit we were waited on initially by Julia (who’s another sweet staff member), then John greeted us offering to pour more wine, and then Vianey served us and Phoebe chatted with us and served us as well. It’s very much a community effort it seems when taking care of guests which is not common at all wineries. I got a team work makes the dream work vibe here.
We really want to become wine club members but our rule of thumb is we have to live at least 3 to 4 kinds before becoming a member. I should share that we are not connoisseurs so we tend to gravitate towards the sweeter wines and Jacuzzi does not have sweet wines other than late harvest which is quite tasty. While we weren’t able to find many we love YET…my favorite I tried was a light Cab the (Cabernet Sauvignon). Hoping a red blend and maybe a riesling will be added to the list someday. We plan to visit again soon to try more wines we didn’t try.
Only con would be maybe the pours aren’t as generous as others I’ve experienced.
I definitely recommend everyone visit at least once. Beautiful place with a lovely staff! I for one can’t wait for our...
