I love my wines on the bold and beautiful side and although I was expecting to find nothing other than that at a Sonoma winery, their Pinot, Zinfandel and Cabernet left my palate screaming for more. Although I can't speak to the aging potential of the wines, I can attest to their structure and appearance. They definitely had a well-defined structure that lends them my kind of depth, and unlike most young red's showcase a deeper garnet or brick-red color.
A happy wine makes for a great wine, and I believe a happy wine can only be found at an architecturally pleasing winery. One that presents itself as a harmonious blend of natural beauty, architectural elegance, and attention to detail. One that comes with a lovely main building, such as a château, or modern architectural showpiece, that serves as the focal point where the wine can be showcased and enjoyed.

Read moreOur group had an amazing time at Mayo Family Winery! We scheduled a large group tasting with them via email about a week before our trip. They had great communication leading up to the day and worked with us to personalize our experience.
This was by far the best winery we went to all weekend. Our group still talks how much they loved this place and wish we would have stayed longer. The tour Mayo Family Winery gave was perfect and really catered to our group's interests. We asked a lot of questions and learned so much. The wine of course was amazing. Their tasting selection offered a wide variety of so everyone found something they really enjoyed. Our group went home with many bottles!
We were able to bring in our own food and have a little picnic after our tour on their outside patio. It was the perfect afternoon!
