I would not rent a pontoon or party boat from here. They are not safe, they do not have a ladder on the boat so you can't get back into the boat from the water unless someone pulls you back on or you have a lot of upper body strength from doing pull and push ups. The so called step on the back of the boat showed to us is at eye level if you are in the water and made of sharp metal edges, none of it extends down even to the level of the water let alone underwater to allow you to climb up. A member of our group was stuck in the water and sustained cuts and bruises all over their body from trying to get back into the boat. They only made it back into the boat when 2 men were able to pull them on board. The young man in charge of rentals was condescending and rude when showing us the boat and when we went back for a ladder, he said they don't have ladders on the boats because people kept losing them so they don't bother with them anymore. Nowhere was this mentioned ahead of time that there was no way to safely get back on the boat, what could be done if someone had an emergency in the water? The flippant attitude of the staff coupled with a serious safety issue makes this a poor rental experience. Bring your own ladder and be aware of the danger if you choose to...

I'm here visiting from Houston. So, I'm not used to this scenery. It's absolutely beautiful! Subhanallah! There wasn't that much water or a frozen lake. (But there was snow!!) However, I visited in December and was told that there would be more snow and a frozen lake to walk on in March.

Tips: 1.) Have SNOW gloves and boots! I didn't know there were different clothes for snow and for the cold. Winter gloves and snow gloves are not the same. This may be common sense to most people, but I didn't know that.

2.) Have puffer jacket! Winter coats get wet when you roll around (or fall) in the snow. The kids especially need puffer jackets so they can stay dry and warm.

3.) Plan to visit in March for the perfect Winter experience. If you can plan accordingly then try to visit the lake in March. The day will be long and sunny so you can enjoy the snow much more.

Overall, you should definitely visit whenever you can. Mashallah it's...

This is one of my favorite parks to go to. I'm from the Central Valley so making an effort to travel up North definitely means that I love this park. They have clean bathrooms, they have grills, they have benches, they allow the dogs there, most of the time there's Rangers walking around so there are no wild crazy animals except for squirrels and maybe a raccoon. I really love this park! The only thing is that it does get packed really easy so getting a spot could be hard. Plus they have a food shack and the ice cream...

Nice launch ramp, free day use parking, and restrooms with flush toilets all next to the marina. Pinecrest lake and campgrounds are very beautiful. Fantastic place to kayak on a weekday in non peak season, lake gets quite busy during peak of summer. There is also a general store and restaurant across from the campground. Great hiking trail up to Cleo’s Bath, 7 miles round trip from the day use lot.
