At lake Pinecrest you have about two or three options of trails. You can do the simple hike around the lake only, which is approximately 4 miles....or you can add to this, the extension of going to Cleo's baths and that will give you a total around seven miles. And there are other options, like from the dam going down to the little river below and to the town of strawberry. If you are new to hiking just stick with the the trail around the lake. Some of the footing is a little bit rough but you could do this trail with regular running shoes. If you are doing the added extended part to Cleo's bath I recommend hiking/running type shoes that will protect your toes a little bit. Be forewarned, if you are going to Cleo's baths you will have about a 1/4 mile of rock climbing, and pretty much straight up! Once you finish this section and our back down the rest continuing clockwise around the lake is very pleasant and tranquil. I did this going to Cleo's bath, RUNNING, in about 1 hour 30 minutes, but hiking all of this will probably be more closer...

Pinecrest lake loop trail is a nice visually stimulating hike. It is about 2, to 2.5 miles round trip give or take and offers lots of good views. The hike itself is fairly moderate, you don't gain any elevation, there are a few hills and uneven terrain but it a chill hike overall. The hike has 4 cut offs you can take, one to strawberry by following the river off the dam, one to catfish lake, another to God's bath and lastly a small cut off to seasonal bathrooms at sunrise point, each of which vary in length and difficulty. The lake loop trail can be done in about 1 to 2 hours depending...

I love how close I live to this wonderful place. Hiking around the lake is a nice easy hike anytime of the year. Great fishing in the summer and amazing boulder climbing in the winter. During the winter the lake is drained and hidden trails in the snow appear. Pinecrest also has a break peak hike that is more difficult, but an awesome experience. Another Pinecrest perk is that it has trails that leads too a couple of other hidden gems. Cleo's Bath and catfish lake. Great views feom these places, but both more intermediate trails as well. One place an outdoors...

Family friendly area. Small children can play by lakeside or in the picnic area. Easy trail along the lake but only stroller accessible until boulders show up. Restrooms are clean and accessible by the parking area. There is no waiting time even though half of the restrooms are closed. Picnic areas are close to parking lot so it is easy to move supplies from vehicles. The lake is at its low point as we can see the waterline and floating dock on the ground. Not crowded, it is an ideal place for a weekend getaway.
