The Anne Springs Close Greenway is one of our favorite places to go! We moved to Fort Mill from Florida in 2012, visited ASCG soon after we arrived, and fell in love with the place. We have been members ever since. It is such a HUGE asset to this area to provide access to the great outdoors.
The Adventure Road entrance is how you gain access to: the dog park, the field trial barn, the Adventure center, several trails, the train trestle bridge area, lake Crandall, lake Frances, Stumpy pond, and offers quickest access to the old grist mill site. A great place to take young kids is the trestle bridge, the swing bridge (near prairie loop marker 28/29), the grist mill site, and lake Crandall.
We've been fishing at all of the lakes/pond with good success. If it's summertime go fishing early in the morning or late afternoon/evening time frame, otherwise it's too hot and the fish go deep and dormant.
The best mountain bike trails area accessed here. Prairie loop, mill pond loop, tunnel trail, are all easily accessed from this location. You can also link up to paradise loop and Avery loop from here to put together a long ride. The trails are relatively easy. The upper parts of prairie loop are good to take kids on , but when the trails go downhill to get near the creek they can get a little challenging for young kids with rock gardens and stumps.
There are a lot of great hiking/running trails accessed from here too. I've ran every one of them and they range from easy to challenging. There are a lot of hills so if you prefer flat running go somewhere else.
There are restrooms at this location near the field trial barn. Otherwise there's plenty of bushes to go behind.
Staff at ASCG do a great job of keeping things well maintained all year. It's truly an enjoyable experience every time we visit, which is at least...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful place while in town to visit family. After finding ourselves with some free time (everyone was on their phones, ugh) so we decided to take a drive and explore the area. That’s when we stumbled upon this hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by a kind lady who gave us all the information we needed. We mentioned we were from Alabama and had never been here before, and she couldn’t have been more welcoming.
We spent about three hours at the park, walking a couple of trails and taking in the sights. Along the way, we saw several deer and even some people riding horses, which added to the natural beauty of the place. The trails are extremely well-maintained, making for a pleasant and peaceful hike. Although it had just rained, which left the lake a little too muddy for us to rent a canoe, the rain had made the waterfall even more stunning. It was a sight worth seeing!
One of the things I appreciated most about this location was how well it has been preserved. You can really tell that a lot of love and care goes into maintaining the natural beauty of the area. Every effort has been made to keep the environment as undisturbed as possible, allowing visitors to truly connect with nature. Overall, it’s a wonderful place, and we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town. If you love the outdoors, this spot...

Swinging bridge - hard to find (I’m bad with maps though) but very fun when there. Bring water shoes, towel, change of clothes to go in the creek. Trail is not stroller friendly.
Nature playground - SUPER cute. Lots to do, including a nice toddler area. Fully fenced, but the gates are just swinging ones that are easily opened by a kid… odd choice. Lots of exploring space, a mud kitchen, little huts to go in, a climbing structure. All woodchips. Fully shaded.
Canteen - way better than expected food, good menu including lots of GF options! Corn tortillas available, GF bread, etc. Coffee, beer, some specialty lemonades and iced teas. Hot food service starts at 11am. The kids portions are ENORMOUS. One mac n cheese would have easily fed both my kids.
Farm - feed buckets are $5 for a good sized bucket, but they stop selling them at 12. It’s a lot of walking and has very little shade on the path. Path is stroller friendly-ish. It’s small pebbles so it would be bumpy, but doable. We didn’t really see any animals other than 2 goats and some geese. It’s just so hot, dragging tired kids on the full hot sun path at the end of our morning to see two goats was...
