My husband and I drove to this park by BOAT just prior to opening time on Memorial Day. We were there to meet family, eat, and go boating for the day. We noticed how sad the park looked. People (the park "guests") live like pigs. Clean up your messes, for crying out loud. Trash everywhere. Broken glass in park lot. You don't even deserve to go to this park. The park is lovely (albeit the bathrooms on the peninsula part need some help), but the sad part is the trash. There was one man going throughout the park with a truck literally mounded high in the back with people's trash from Sunday. He was working as fast as he could and I felt so bad for him. My point here is that the City of Anderson needs to give a raise to Donnie. He was there working on Memorial Day. I saw no one helping him. He runs the park maintenance, dealing with plugged up toilets and cleaning up trash from people who live like pigs at the park. My only reason for any star is for Donnie, the nice, hospitable, friendly man we met at the park yesterday morning. Y'all should know how lucky you are that...
Read moreThe trash really needs to be picked up (I filled a 20 gal bag and 4 grocery bags in 15 mins) or more enforcement (What happened to park rangers)?) needs to be in place to prevent it.
All stupid people mentioning the smell: The smell is fish, they live in lakes. Fish poop, their poop stinks. This is called NATURE. It happenswhen you go outside.
If we fish more and buy less market fish the smell will become less overwhelming because we are catching our fish wild (as God intended [Fish and loaves story?) people will be healthier.
My kids had a blast dancing with a VERY friendly butterfly and my wife and dog played in the shallows, it was a good time a like many have said a great place to experience nature amd enjoy a picnic. Saw a few people hitting it big fishing off the peninsula so I plan to come back and...
Read morePlenty of diversity..and parking. Pretty nice playground, it's shaded so it doesn't get as hot as some do.. that's one of the main reasons my kids like this spot. As far as the water goes, Im not the biggest fan; can't stand the way the bottom feels - it's mushy in between your toes 🥴 There are several different picnic tables and grills (they were occupied and being put to good use, made me hungry). The bathroom is just like any other campground like facility; not real clean, kind of smelly and full of spiders. I seen a couple different people throwing frisbies..I think they have some type of setup for that kind of thing. Overall it's a pretty good spot as long as you don't...
