This place is such a gem! The area is absolutely beautiful & the trees offer a ton of shade and coverage from the sun. Bring bug spray- where there's water... You know. They're out and buzzing. There are multiple public bathrooms and plenty of parking. I saw lots of beautiful animals in the wild & was very happy with the peace and quiet in most of the park despite the people out and about. I saw a family rented out the center which is a super cool offer for the park. What a great spot for a family reunion! You can enjoy the outdoors and then escape inside to cool down in the AC!
The tree walk thing is awesome! Definitely why I drove 2 hours and change bc it looked like such a unique experience. And it was worth it ! Def recommend doing it. Park closes at 5 tho so plan ahead!!!
They also have a little free library right in front - not a ton of books, but totally cute and hopefully will pick up activity with the word out.
Edit: Thank you for educating me on the animals in the center!! I had previously stated I didn't love that part - but now I'm feeling a million times better about it and the purpose it serves. I removed that portion of my review and added a star.
Excellent place and seems like they know what they're...
Read moreI'd never heard of this park. I'm a big fan of visiting parks in my state. My parents, wife, children, and I drove 2 hours to visit and really hoped to do the canopy walk it was closed due to a fallen tree, but we still had a blast! We had a nice picnic lunch, walked along the boardwalk by the river, and let the kids run loose on the playground. The park rangers showed the kids a box turtle and a king snake, even letting them pet them. It was very educational, they emphasized saftey with handling animals first and foremost, and very entertaining as well. I will return soon. Hopefully to experience the rest of the park. Wonderful place, and a hidden gem in heart of South Carolina. Thanks guys, hope to...
Read moreVery friendly and knowledgeable staff. I'm sure the programs they have for kids are wonderful. Can't wait to go back and hit the kayak trail. I wish they had more information about their offerings available online though. The Tree Bridge Trail was not as long as I had imagined but, it was way more fun and exciting than I had thought! I can't believe my wife went on it....
