First Union African Baptist Church — Attraction in South Carolina

Visiting this church was a very gratifying experience. It is a little well preserved gem of a building on this very remote island. It was an insight into the faith which held these people together. We had a wonderful experience while we were at this church. One of our party was asked to read a passage from the local Bible and to our amazement she did so in the most wonderful Gullah accent you could ever imagine. Dressing up isn't necessary, and prepare to be greeted with genuine enthusiasm by the regular parishioners.
