Paris Mountain SP is a hiker and mountain biker dream. There are many trails of varying difficulty covering over 15 miles. The park itself is one of the smaller parks in the state system but has lots to offer. The campground area is tight to maneuver with narrow roads and some sharp turns. The camp sites are well spaced out so you have plenty of room without being on top of your neighbor but there is limited parking space. It was hard for us to park our tow vehicle and second vehicle in the space. The parking pads were well maintained and the hookups were in good condition with no problems. Water pressure was average. Despite the website stating the campsites are level, there is a decent amount of grade so bring plenty of leveling blocks, especially for your front jack, mine was extended to it's maximum in order to detach from the truck with a 4x4 block under it. The camp area is VERY wooded with a full canopy. It's amazing how full the canopy and when we left the park it seemed 50% brighter! The roads in the park are narrow, barely wide enough for two cars and with the many twists and turns it can be challenging for long campers to navigate. The shoulder is at least 4-6 drop off the paved road if you get too close when trying to get over for oncoming traffic. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. The shower facilities were setup well with a solid wooded swing door on the outside with a chain lock. The shower had its own curtain. Although tight, it was typical and functional. Water pressure was decent and water was warm (not hot). The campground is a short .5 mile hike, either by road or trail, to the park store/ranger station which is right on Lake Placid. The store has limited supplies and gifts but is well maintained and has an interpretive area with lots of information about the history of the park. Along the lake is a nice beach area with various wooden loungers. There is a roped off swimming area. The water was very clear. There is a rental shop for kayaks and pedal boats that rent for $5/30 minutes. The rental includes the life jacket. There is also a stand of free loaner jackets for the swim area. At the opposite side of the lake is a dam/spillway that is picturesque and peaceful to listen to and observe. Across the street from the store is a large parking area with a huge open field with a volleyball net and playground. The trails are in great condition and are well marked and well traveled. Bring good hiking boots and you'll be set! Trails are Easy, Moderate, and Strenuous difficulties. One of the trails leads to an outdoor amphitheater. There was a live band playing while we were there with more planned for the month. There were also several bike repair stations located throughout the park. There is a lot of natural beauty on the trails with various wildlife and interesting rock formations. While I'm not sure I'd go camp for camping due to the tight roads and smallish campsite, I would definitely go back for a day visit to hike more trails and enjoy the beauty of the park.

I got married here back in 2018 at The Lodge at Camp Buckhorn and it was absolutely beautiful. I was one of the first people to get married here. It was so cheap too!! You get the wedding venue, and the 10 cabins for the entire weekend. There’s also a big fire pit everyone can sit around and enjoy. If you are looking to save money but have the wedding of your dreams this is definitely the place to have it! There are bathrooms and showers for anyone that stays overnight. This venue is about 10 minutes from the main entrance of Paris Mountain so you can be as loud as you want to lol They do provide chairs and tables if you want to use what they have. This place has a lot to offer and the possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating etc. I tell everyone to get married here. It was so nice to be able to enjoy the wedding and spend time with everyone for the entire weekend and not feel rushed. We had a big wedding so whether you are having a big wedding or a small wedding you can make this place work. We had plenty of room for everyone inside and the DJ. Most wedding venues this size are about $5,000 or more for just a day or a few hours. This was half the cost and you got it for the entire weekend. Anytime I had a question or concern the park staff were always eager to help in any way. The money that they get for the wedding venue also goes towards the park for renovations etc which I saw first hand. You can’t beat the price or the experience that comes with this place! Everyone loved this venue!!!

I went to Paris Mountain State Park for the first time today and I had such a wonderful relaxing day! It's location is great, only about 20 minutes from downtown Greenville. It cost $6.00 per person, so affordable and we found a parking spot easily. We parked near the beautiful lake where there were plenty of picnic tables and a bathroom. You have a view of the lake no matter where you sit, it was so nice to just sit, relax and enjoy the weather and the lake while eating lunch. There are about 5 trails you could walk, we chose to just walk around the lake which was lovely and I think just under a mile. The lake has a small beach area where you can swim at your own risk, no lifeguards and they have peddle boats you can rent, so fun! You can fish there too. There's plenty of benches along the path around the lake so you can sit and enjoy the views, there's an amphitheater as well and a souvenir shop with bathrooms. You're surrounded by trees and some pretty honeysuckle bushes, there's a small dam with a pretty waterfall and the lake is beautiful. Just be careful walking around, there are a lot of tree roots that you can trip on and don't touch any greenery, there is a lot of poison ivy. We had a peaceful day and thoroughly enjoyed it, I highly recommend you take a trip to Paris Mountain Park!! Dogs are welcome too!

If Falls Park is the crown jewel of downtown Greenville, then Paris Mountain State Park is the king's throne. A beautiful state park nestled in the dense trees and lakes, on a mountain, in the middle of the city. One turn and five minutes you go from downtown restaurants on city streets to a mountain forest with hiking trails. Also, like Falls Park it is rooted in Greenville's earliest history. Richard Pearis, the first white man to make his home in the area, to no coincidence married a native Cherokee tribeswoman. The Cherokee natives gave much of the land that became Greenville to Pearis, including Paris Mountain. The misspelling of the mountain occurred somewhere along the way. The most common version of an old local tale goes: "The chief of the indwelling Cherokee tribe tried to protect the land, and when he grew old, he passed on the responsibility to his daughter and her husband. The husband failed in this task and sold the mountain. In anger, the daughter of the chief killed her husband." No rumors of his ghost haunting the trails or campgrounds so feel free to explore!
