Flashback to the low country
I purchased an early 'redfish' from The Iron Fish over ten years ago, while visiting Daufuskie and relaxing in the warm salty breeze of the South Carolina low country. Time there seemed to stand still, in all the best ways, and was a rejuvenating break from a chaotic few years of medical training. After relocating to practice in the rural Pacific Northwest, I treasured that redfish and the memories it evoked of Daufuskie and a quiet spot on the east coast, now so far away.
When Chase learned that my home was destroyed in a wildfire 4 years ago, to my surprise I received a brand new sculpture that now hangs in my new home and again reminds me of that restorative time in South Carolina. Now that beautiful iron fish speaks, too, of the heart and soul that Chase puts into his work and the profound generosity and compassion that one man can share through his art.
In a world of salmon and steelhead, this fish from Daufuskie Island helps define the meaning of home.
Stop by, check out the gallery, pick up a genuine work of art and if it doesn't last a lifetime, talk to Chase and you'll forge a friendship...
Read moreOur experience visiting The Iron Fish Gallery was amazing. There are very few times when someone can actually watch artwork being made. Iron work is very labor intense and extremely interesting to watch. There is so much to learn by visiting this beautiful outdoor studio. Unfortunately we were not able to actually speak with Chase Allen the day we traveled to this little island gem because he was not there at the time, we did however speak to his assistant who was working on sculptures and he told us how to go about ordering a custom piece. We left a message for Chase and within the next day he called us to discuss our needs. I can not emphasize how professionally attentive and personally nice he was. We love the items we purchased from him, and look forward to doing more business with him in the future. I wish The Iron Fish Gallery continued success in the future, and I look forward to meeting Chase in person,...
Read moreMy time teaching at Daufuskie Island Elementary introduced me to this amazing artist. Iron work is a difficult media and Chase has committed his life to this talent. This is why he was chosen by "Martha Stewart's Americas Made" as a winner. The money he won did not go into his pocket, but went to help a family whose child had serious medical problems.
My school children worked with Chase, selling small fish ornaments, the proceeds of which went to The Free Medical Clinic on Hilton Head Island. He not only has a trendous talent, he has a huge heart.
I proudly enjoy his art on my porch, as do my grown children in their homes. You can order on line of you can't visit Daufuskie and you will be assured that it is made with perfection, wrapped creatively and delivered to you with love. Those who value art will...
