Sylvan Lake Shore Trailhead — Attraction in South Dakota

What a Beautiful lake! It says easy hike, but for people with knee or hip problems - take it easy. On the first leg of the trail it is flat, but when it gets to the the big rocks, it gets harder.. there is a little water fall next to the dam as well. when you reach top there is a trail that goes back to flat. Gorgeous mountain lake with clear water for swimming, canoe/kayaking, or fishing. The one-mile trail loops around the shore & has a few spurs for exploring caves & outcroppings a little further from the lake. The views are lovely no matter the vantage point. You can walk around the lake from here which is easy and make your way over to Black Elk Trailhead too and start that hike up to the to peak.

This is part of the main Sylvan lake parking lot so don't expect to park at Trailhead unless you are super early.
