Small beach, with not too many people which was great, love the small beach, lots of gold flakes and clear water. $15 for out of state parking. Don't park in the long parking space (you'll get a ticket), apparently its only for cars with tow , regular vehicles and handicapped vehicles has to park far from the beach and so is the restrooms, not very convenient. As we were at the roundabout which has a load and unload sign, we were trying to load our vehicle, which the ties took just a bit longer. One of the older female staff, instead speaking more friendly, she was rude and nasty and telling us we were taking too long and had to leave. How it's a roundabout and some big vehicles were waiting on us and she was just outright nasty. So we moved to a long parking stall to finish up, which took another 5mins, which NO vehicles came through or was waiting like she said. Parking lot was almost empty. No clue why she was being nasty. It's a Loading area, it wasn't as if we were parking just to be parking, we were loading and had a lot of stuff to load. She could've approached us a little friendlier, but she didn't, she needs some manners.training on how to talk to and approach people. As we were leaving she smiles and says have a good day. 😡😡😡 Yeah, as beautiful and small the beach was, after that experience, I don't think I'll be back, there are many other beaches along S.Tahoe with friendlier staff. It makes...

Do not launch your boat here! We came to get a new seal and launch here. The next day we go to put our boat back in the water at the Tahoe keys and we are unable to because our boat did not have a seal. We called cave rock and they said in there records that they placed a seal. So rather than helping us try and fix the problem they just lied to us which is really scary. They did not give us a new seal for free and try and fix the problem. We had to drive 45 minutes to cave rock and get a new seal. No discount. A week later we had to launch here and we asked them to wave the 25 dollar fee due to the inconvenience of last week. The first employee was super kind and told us she was going to ask. The next employee Gage was so rude and disrespectful. Our driver was explaining how upset we were due to the huge inconvenience. Gage said to us that cave rock did not inconvenience us in anyway. Overall a horrible experience. Horrible service multiple times from this business. The employee Gage was so rude and honestly acted like a bratty teenager to us rather than help fix...

Honestly, I'm shocked that they charge you $15 to park here. I'm a huge fan of Nevada State Parks, but I think for what you get is pretty outrageous. Yes the view of Cave Rock is pretty cool, but there's an equally better (and free) view just on the other side of the tunnel at Logan Shoals or hiking to the top from across the highway.

I visited one morning at 6am because I simply wanted a photo of an historical marker that was replaced here last year. The rangers did not at all allow visitation without paying a fee. I had some state influence and I told them I'd be out in 30 seconds. All they said was "make it quick." As such, I technically didn't have to pay them anything, but I slapped them a few bucks anyway because these poor guys were tired and overworked. Is this a sign of how the NSP system is run? Even despite my experience that morning, I say this: unless you're launching a boat I honestly don't see what you get for your fifteen bucks.

Go to the plenty of other free and spectacular points on...

I’m in mixed feelings writing about this area. First, the parking lot were more into vehicles with trailers for boat. The spots for cars without trailers were mostly the farther ones from the beach area. So unloading your stuff first to the closest spot would help. Well, if not too busy sometimes the staff let you use those long parking spots. The beach area was so small, if I could remember that time, only 7 group of people could have a comfortable spot there. There is one picnic table on higher ground. Some people were smoking (weeds, cigarettes) there freely (the staff should check once in awhile since it’s not a big area to monitor). But the water was so perfect (calm, not too choppy) for kids to do paddle boarding or just for a swim. Water was always cold, but in Summer you’ll get used to it quickly. View? Well it’s Lake Tahoe, it’s hard to get disappointed 😉 Restrooms were big and clean enough. Well, it’s the best spot to do SUP if not too crowded. So five stars still.

We weren’t able to get a pass to get into Sand Harbor. We really just wanted to look at the lake and have a little access to the beach. This spot fit the bill perfectly. We got there about midday and there were still parking places to get in. We used our all access pass to get in. There is someone watching the entrance to be sure there’s room and to check your pass or you pay the fee. They have a small beach access area, which was nice to dunk your feet in. And you could go out and swim if you’d like. And it was cool to see the caverock although more access to it would have been cool. We did not do the trail to the top. Several picnic tables (not covered unfortunately) and benches along the walking path. From one to the other. The boat ramp is at one end in the beach at the other. Only probably about 15 car space is total and the same for boats with trailers. Restrooms and a place to rinse your feet outside of them.
