Aqua Turf normally does a beautiful job for the holiday parties and NEw Years Events but this year ringing 2023 I wasn’t impressed and was disappointed. We payed more this year for our tickets and it was disorganized and not the same as it has been. To start off with positives.. the venue always looks beautiful, staff is so nice ,bartenders are awesome. Aquaturf does great putting New Years Event together. Food was tasty and they will accommodate to your food allergies.
Negatives- for the Appetizers, most of the appetizers are seafood. It was brought to My attention that for those who are allergic to seafood or dislike seafood don’t have much of an option because many of the apps are seafood. Yes they have cheese and crackers but there should be other non seafood options. I Love seafood! But just throwing it out there for those who don’t.
Also, last year before the party and dancing got started the DJ had a fun interactive games to start the night off. This year there was none of that.
Staff- for those bringing out the food this year or Atleast those who attended our table .. they were polite and pleasant. However ..very disorganized, specially when it came to food allergies! Good thing I ask to Make sure I got the correct plate before I eat because what I had in front of me was not correct. There was 3 of us that had allergies at our table and None received the correct dish. We had to Ask for it to be changed.
DJ- I don’t know what happened this year but the music could have been better! Last year the music was much much better. A song was requested. A popular song and the DJ didn’t know who /what was the song! There use to be 2 rooms you can check out also which had a variety . This yr they only had the Wagon Room with the band which was nice and enjoyable for all.
Overall I still had fun but it could have been better and it could have been a night of more dancing. Just suggestions...
Read moreOur planning was so easy and our wedding day was a dream with the Aqua Turf! Every interaction we've had with any employee in any role has been so polite, helpful, and pleasant. They truly go out of their way to make sure you are happy with every detail. Alyssa gave us a tour of the venue and was our contact during planning. She was always helpful and very accommodating to all our special requests and needs, and extremely responsive. Sean was our Maitre D on our wedding day and it could not have been smoother and more lovely. They took care of every detail for us, including walking me (the bride) to the chapel timed out after my wedding party, fluffing my dress before my entrance, bringing us water and snacks while we were taking our portraits on a hot sunny day, and taking care of us the entire day. Sean checked on us during dinner, making sure we had drinks and food. He also checked in with us about the timing of everything (for example, we extended cocktail hour by 10 minutes - a detail that seems small, but we really appreciated having 10 minutes to snack after taking all our photos and before our first dance). Our food was unbelievable! Everyone was floored by how much food there was during cocktail hour and how delicious it was. During dinner service, the staff went around with extra food for people to have additional portions. We got married in the chapel and had our cocktail hour and reception in Kay's Pier South. The grounds at the Aqua Turf are absolutely stunning and the ballroom is so elegant. We could not have picked a more beautiful place. We can't imagine having gotten married anywhere else - the Aqua Turf really made our dream wedding a reality. The scenery is beautiful and the service is wonderful. We would absolutely recommend this venue...
Read moreHighly disappointed in this venue. First off, management was extremely rude and very unaccommodating. We went to give Karen the final payment a few days before the event, and she literally got up and left the conference room before we even stood up. We asked if we could refrigerate the cake (per baker's instructions), and they made a huge deal about it. The servers and bartender were not bad (hence the two stars); they were very kind. The food was not good. I feel embarrassed that’s what I served my guests. They rushed us during every step of the way (always with an attitude). We had dinner set for 7:15, and they told me that it is okay if we pushed it. It was a surprise birthday, and there was crazy traffic to come to CT from NY, so about 25% of my guests (including the band and cameraman) were late. Therefore we had to push dinner to 7:30 (I informed Brianna of this since 6:30). I think dinner was set at about 7:40. After that, everything continues to be rushed, guests had had their plates for approximately 10 minutes, and the staff was out with boxes so they could wrap the guests' food to go.
I have had many events at different venues in CT, both cheaper and more expensive than the Aqua Turf and nothing is comparable to the awful...
