7/21: I got nervous sending a little detailed email regarding my special day….This is a first for me! I’ll be honest.. I was hoping for a better response than literally just “you need 30 people”…. What ever happened to simple pleasantries? That turned me, my friends AND family off so fast. We won’t be coming back for another meal. Maybe it’s just me I expected a little more from a restaurant of this quality. On 7/13: From OpenTable: My fiancé and I have been wanting to try New Mill Restaurant for a while now! We’ve heard so many great things. The atmosphere is so cozy and rustic. Everything was cooked beautifully, there were so many great flavors and textures. A lot of the combinations I saw all sounded so delicious but I had to try the Stuffed Chicken Cutlet. I loved it!! It was so creamy and the crust on the chicken was amazing. He tried the Crab Stuffed Cod and loved it as well. We will definitely be coming back for another taste! Come October we’re hoping New Mill will be the place for our families to come together and make a wonderful memory.

This was our first visit to the New Mill Restaurant in the Plantsville section of Southington Connecticut. It is close to I 695 so it is easy to reach being between both I 84 and I 91. The point is it is worth the effort to drive farther than you may normally do to go out for dinner. The Waite staffing was very attentive and done by a group of people that was always attentive at the right time. My wife got the lobster encrusted Cod that the waitress had indicated is one of the bestselling dinners the restaurant has. It was great and the flavor of the crust enhanced the flavor of the cod and the way it was cooked kept it very tender. I had the Pork Chop and found that it was a very ample cut that was cooked just as medium should be and not at all dried out that often happens with Pork Chops. The combination with the mixed vegetables was well seasoned and cooked. We will certainly go back to this restaurant and look forward to possibly getting lucky to sit near the fireplace during the winter.

The New Mill Restaurant left me with mixed feelings after multiple visits. On my first visit, during a weekday, I had a pleasurable experience with decent food and a good server. We enjoyed the calamari, filet, and granny smith apple salad. However, my subsequent visits on Friday and the weekend were not as enjoyable. The atmosphere was politically charged at full intoxicated volume. The lack of social graces and smugness made for an uncomfortable dining experience, despite the well-to-do crowd. There’s a reason that controversial topics of conversation are best left out of casual social settings. Although the food was alright, it was not worth the price tag, especially when the atmosphere was unpleasant. Dining in peace is crucial, especially when spending that kind of money. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the New Mill Restaurant unless you're willing to tolerate a politically charged atmosphere and a little bit of contempt from certain wait staff and management.

First time eating here. I wasn’t fully prepared for the atmosphere so I was in a hoodie but nice jeans and knee high boots thankfully. It’s not a T-shirt kind of place but not very dressy either. Every waitstaff greeted us with smiles and we were sat immediately. The bread with the oil and herb plate is very yummy and let’s you snack while you wait for your meals. The waiter was nice but not overbearing. All 3 of us ordered chicken. One chicken parm- huge. Huge plate. I will say that I do make better chicks parm. I wasn’t fully impressed. The sauce is bland and so is the breading on the chicken. The pasta was al-dente which I’m not a huge fan of. My daughter ordered the stuffed chicken- again huge! She loved it. I ordered the chicken caprese. Huge! Mine came with baby roasted potatoes. They were over oiled and were more oily crisped rather than nicely roasted. The mashed potatoes are way too over buttered and not light and fluffy. We also go the house salad. The chunks of cheese and bacon with the house dressing... delicious. So overall it was a good meal. We also ordered desserts to go. Tiny tiny piece of cheesecake for a big price. Meh. But the chicken there is good. Potatoes need a...

When my fiance and I came to this restaurant pre-Pandemic , we had the best meal you could ask for (delicious chicken parmesan and made-to-order vegetarian pasta with cream sauce). Today (7/31/20) we went again, dying for that same experience. We ordered the same exact menu items and received subpar results: chicken pre-cooked (could barely cut with my knife), pasta under/pre-cooked (al dente pasta needs to be fresh). I had to send mine back however the kitchen response was if you order it again you will get the same result, or order something else. Similarly, the veggie pasta dish was made with butter, with significantly less vegetables than the first time around. I understand this may be the case for low class/chain restaurant and/or fast food, but shouldn't be the quality of higher scale restaurants. Additionally, while the waitress was nice and trying to do everything in her power to fix the situation, no management effort was to be seen by us. Either New Mill lost their fantastic chef, or something is happening within their kitchen management. Lastly, this time around, we could have gotten better quality in Chili's. So don't...
