Small visitor center in the Needles district -- sporadic gas facilities The Needles district of Canyonlands National Park is the less visited section of Canyonlands. It's fairly out of the way and it's a long ways after you get off of the main highway - US 191. The drive in is pretty enough. The needles district is good if you want to do some all day hikes into the back country. If you just want to drive and take short walks, there isn't a lot here. The pothole pointe trail is a short and interesting trail to take. Cave Spring takes you to some ruins left by the cowboys (and the need to climb a short ladder). The drive into Needles is similar to a smaller Zion Canyon, Vermillion Cliffs and some Monument Valley all rolled into one. Great views and easy hiking trails.
