Mary's Swap Meet — Attraction in Spencer

Hello everyone and good day! Down below I've sent you the place I'm referencing in this message. This place is called Mary's flea market! From my knowledge I know it's been there over 50 years! My mother bless her soul, before she passed away she had been selling at Mary's flea market Believe it or not, for 45 years! Many of the years I was down there with her. Of course the reason it's called Mary's flea market because the person who is running it now, Mary was his grandmother. After she passed, the grandson whose running it now, his father ran it for several years before him. So why am I writing this phrase? For over 50 years, as I know of, everyone there has been able to use the bathroom totally free! As a matter of fact, now that I'm thinking about it, is there any business that you know of yourself, in the United States of America, that charges someone to use the bathroom!? Yeah, that's right, the grandson has started charging people to use the bathroom! Do you believe that? As from what I hear from the sellers that are there now, one of them told me to look around Kenneth, look at all the empty spaces! People are leaving this flea market because the grandson wants to charge them to use the bathroom!

Okay now look at it like this, the cost to get in has went up from $8, to $18 now! You're there selling your products, first things first, you had to come up with the $18 just to get in! Now you're nearly busted, and now if you need to use the bathroom, from paying them $18 to enter, you must pay them an additional dollar to use the bathroom! I know Mary the original owner would not stand for this! I know the father of the grandson that is running it now, he wouldn't stand for it either! Actually they would probably roll over in their grave knowing that he is charging people to use the bathroom! I was there last weekend, I spent my last $10 on a product there and I was getting ready to leave! I needed to use the bathroom! I go up to the bathroom door, and there is that lady there that tells me I cannot use the bathroom unless I pay them $1! I just then had spent all of my money at that flea market! I didn't have an extra dollar.

He is losing patrons that sell out there, now he has lost another patron that purchases from out there, me! Is this the most preposterous thing that you have ever heard! Once again, where do you know in the whole country of America, that someone charges to use the bathroom! Oh by the way, he's instructed the people who take the money once you get in to tell everyone that they had to charge a dollar because homeless people are coming in the bathroom and dirtying it up, he said at one time they smeared feces on the wall! Okay buddy I get that! But, homeless people are around the entire country! They're going into everywhere and using bathrooms, put a lock on the door or something like other businesses are doing! Do not attempt to charge people $1 because you have to pay someone to clean up the bathroom.

SO RIGHT NOW! This place that I have sold at, and solicited at for nearly 50 years! I'm not going back there ever again until he changes this ridiculous policy!

DO YOU THINK IT'S RIGHT FOR ANY BUSINESS IN THE COUNTRY TO CHARGE PEOPLE TO USE THEIR BATHROOM BECAUSE THE HOMELESS COME THERE AND DIRTY IT UP?? PLEASE JOIN THE REST OF US WITH BOYCOTTING THIS BUSINESS!!

I am a lifelong Mary's enthusiast; from both sides of the table ! As a child, i LOVED nothing more than being a customer alongside my dad. As an adult, I still LOVE to shop the booths at Mary's, but I also have grown quite a liking for being a booth-renter/merchant at the Swap Meet. It is only $10 to arrive and set up (at the crack of dawn) and sell all your random junk til dusk !! Bring a friend so you can take shifts, because you will HAVE TO go check out all the other booths. You will find literally an A-Z plethora of items for sale: the most random, yet useful, unique, antique; maybe totally unheard of, and possibly just that thing you've been looking for... same goes for your booth if you're a merchant for a day- you will be amazed at the stuff people buy. I have never done less than break even (in other words: make in profit at least the $10 i spent to have a booth)* and often times i do much better; in fact, just by gathering up a portion of what could be held as a yard sale, along with even some of my husbands lost cause items (broken lawn-movers, left over construction scrap)- and managed to rake in over $100, on multiple occasions. This experience can redefine and put into perspective: "one mans trash, is truly, another mans treasure." Beware : this place and those similar can be quite... addictive...

Mr Devin Stone Owner of this market will take away your rights. him and his staff are very unprofessional and very uneducated. I’ve never been spoken to the way mr.stone yelled at me today for not wanting to provide my disability and why I have a service pet. And what’s sad is my initial interaction was with his security . his security cussed me and told me if I didn’t want to provide documentation of my disability I could go ahead and leave.
