Very nice park, has a small playground for the kids, restrooms at the bottom of the hill in the first building, right before you get to the bridge. The road is paved down to the bridge from the parking lot, but the path along the river is pea sized gravel. Stocked trout fishing stream, you can fish from the bridge, or from various spots along the path. It is about a 1 mile walk to the covered bridge, and there is a 3 mile walk as well in the other direction. The sign on the far side of the river from the parking lot gives the milage and direction. Lots of people enjoying the trail today on Sunday, families with small kids, runners and those fishing the stream, and quite a few cyclists. Find the stone/cement turtle, for bonus points. The river has a spillway under the bridge, but there is a canoe pull out for portaging above and below it. Have to carry the canoe...
Read moreWe went for Christmas lights. It was well organized with ample parking and you walked down past a real fire pit and they have an enclosed tent with heaters with a band playing inside, which was really nice to sit and watch. They also had King Christmas dressed up, walking around for photo opportunities. Then you walk down to the barn which they have decorated with beautiful Christmas tree trees, inside and Santa, Mrs. Santa, and an elf to take photos with. Well done! Don’t forget to leave a donation inside there. They also had inside bathrooms and food trucks outside for hot sandwiches, snacks, hot beverages. then you can walk over the bridge to an old building where they have a train set up inside that you can push buttons to interact with. We spent a little over an hour here. It is a nice thing to do...
Read moreGring's Mill offers such a beautiful, relaxing trip into nature. There are paved and upkept trails running alongside a flowing river. There are playgrounds and picnic tables in various areas. Highly recommended for quality outdoor time.
Paths are well posted with mile markers & bulletin boards, and there are park rangers for added safety!
Fishing is allowed, animals are allowed on leashes, and the paths are perfect for birdwatching! We see American robbins, cardinals, blue jays, and a beautiful Great Blue Heron that regularly visits.
I love Gring's Mill. Great place for families and a nice walk...
