When it hasn't been raining, the water in Spring Creek is pretty low, but still enough to enjoy a swim. But when it's been raining, the water is much higher, and the current is strong. A float is recommended when the water level is high, you could easily float a mile or more. The beach is generally not too crowded, and the trails are long enough that you can walk for a decently long time without even seeing anybody else. This park is like an oasis, you don't get any noise from cars, and if you walk down the creek a bit, you won't even hear people from the beach areas, and you can swim anywhere in the creek. This is a great place to bring children, it's very family friendly, and there are so many places you can go and see nature and learn about the plants in the area. I personally haven't seen much animal life outside of some birds, but I would imagine that if you really went looking, you could find most any type of animal. I recommend Pundt Park for anybody who has kids or dogs, because there are so many trails and places to find the creek, and when I went last time, I saw several trailers of horses, which makes sense because there are many miles of equestrian trails here. And one thing that I really enjoy about the trails is that they are mostly covered by woods, so even in the middle of the day, you will get 90% shade while walking the trails, which is great...
Β Β Β Read moreExcellent park. It is very well kept and clean, and the park rangers and police are very kind and keep the park safe. There are multiple ponds that have bass and panfish, and are also stocked with rainbow trout in January and February. There are numerous trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding. There is also a greenway (pretty much a road for hikers and bike riders that is surrounded by woods) that follows spring creek and connects multiple parks. It has water coolers along the way to fill up water bottles but if you don't have any bottles there's paper cups. The water stops are not in use right now because of Covid-19 (check the date this was posted it may not be relevant later on), but usually they're present. I think the greenway is 15-20 miles long right now but it is projected to stretch 40 miles in a couple of years. my favorite part of the park is the creek. It is open for swimming and kayaking, and I've caught quite a few fish in there. There is also tons of wildlife, especially in the morning. There's also a dog park and playground if you have...
Β Β Β Read moreI originally only came here for the dog park, which are great, but the real crown jewel for me is Spring Creek. The water is pretty clean, the beach too, and you don't have to have n river shoes. It is mostly pretty shallow, and the deeper parts are easy to see. The current is not strong, so it is perfect for even small children and dogs. It's like a mini Galveston only prettier, cleaner, quieter, safer, and less crowded.
As for the dog parks, I really like that they have parking nearby. Having the large and small parks side by side is also great because friends meeting up can still talk and hang out even if their dogs are not sized for the same park. It is pretty shady all day too over the majority of both parks. I wish they had a dog and people fountain like Meyer Park has though. There is a spigot here and usually a bucket though.
This is now my preferred park to frequent. Not much else I could want...
