It has its moments, like the few times per year the rain or snow falls tuesday-sunday, or when you just want to skate the same, well worn obstacles you grew up skating. When you have a hankering for a decade old indoor course with transitions that would baffle even the great mathematicians or an outdoor area with a surface so rough and full of cracks, holes and small pebbles that it prepares you for street skating. When skating with some of the raddest locals youll ever meet at a place clearly kept running by the sacrifice and hardwork of a few dedicated individuals outweighs the absolute travesty of limited hours, admission pricing, helmet requirements and lack of city investment. SGF skatepark is amazing when you have literally no where else to go bc there is no free, outdoor concrete park like in the thriving metropolis...
Read moreReading some of the negative reviews are hilarious. Some people don’t know how good they have it lol. This is literally the best skatepark in the state and one of the best parks I’ve ever been to. It’s massive, with indoor and outdoor sections, a wide variety of obstacles and ramps. Great for beginners up to pro level skating. I understand the complaints about the price, but for a skatepark of this size, $10 is actually an amazing deal, especially when you compare to prices of indoor skateparks in other states. It’s $20 a session for a park a tenth of this size in NYC! I love this park. The indoor bowl is the most perfect thing I’ve ever skated. I do wish they would mix up the design on the indoor section, but it’s a great unique park and I miss being able to skate here all the time. Don’t take it...
Read moreMy kids love this place and I love going with them. It's really a nice skate park. There are the usual little punk turds running their mouths but my kids are pretty good about ignoring it. There are also some really talented skaters there and they are a lot of fun to watch. Most of the experienced guys are really friendly and encouraging to the younger kids just starting out. Good place to find quality people that will give lessons. Staff is great and they keep things under control.
My only warning is that this place is not a playground. If your kids still have training wheels and don't understand the right of way, don't bring them. There are some big guys moving very fast and while they are always watching out, it's hard to stop sometimes. Some experience and awareness is required to not get...
