This park continues to be a place of beauty. As grass begins to green in the Spring, the park service also turn on the beautiful water fountains. There are a couple tennis courts. Large nice gazebo, family use to for family portraits with a beautiful large pond in background. There is a special rose garden to enjoy. The Bell Tower is one of 7 in country ( world?). During the summer, there a Bell Tower concert, which sounds like church bells making music not simply ring a bell.

My son and I like to share lunch together at the park. The park has a host of kritters: squirrel, geese, ducks, birds galore. Sitting under the shade of large trees, feeling a nice breeze... you're relaxed and more like " yourself" by the time you finish your lunch. Picnic tables, with shelters care available throughout the park.

Oh for little ones, there is a really...

Washington park is a beautiful place to take the family with a great and fairly new play ground area with lots of different things for the kids to have great imaginable and adventurous times on. Great places to take a run, bike ride, walk your pet, or to take a nice and peaceful stroll thru the botanical gardens while listening to the bells that ring in the air with a beautiful sound of music. Washington park is a great place for weddings, family events with a wonderful venue within the park and a gazebo. Also if your looking to have a large event it is also a great places for that with lots of free parking areas. There is a full tennis court if that is something that you enjoy doing. In all washington park I believe is one of the best parks we have in Springfield, IL. Great place...

My personal honest opinion is: I was raised/lived in the Washington Park Pavilion from 1951 to approx. 1960. I was adopted and my new parents were the managers of the Catering services held in the downstairs area; our living quarters were upstairs. I feed the ducks at the main pond...went fishing there and also at the lower pond area. In roughly '58-'59 we went to Europe on holiday and were privileged to go to the manufacturing area where the bells were being made for the Carillon bell tower for Washington Park! They were from tiny bells to GINORMOUS size and they had and still have awesome tones. Kudos to all of the parks and recreation areas and golf courses in Springfield IL !!! My parents were Willard and Hester Snow and I attended Butler Elementary on...

I attended the Carrillion's Jack-o'-lantern Spectacular Saturday night and had a wonderful time. My husband and I took many pictures of the various Jack-o'-lanterns on display. The weather was in the fifties and clear with a gentle breeze. Due to the heavy attendance we didn't partake of any food or drinks. We took the shuttle from Ashley's Furniture Store to Washington Park which was very convenient and very organized. The police officer on duty outside Ashley's where we bought tickets was a welcomed site and very personable to everyone waiting for buses. Despite the crowd there were three buses running continuously and so the wait time was minimal. Kiddos to this event!

I've been going to Washington Park since before I was born. My mom had Girl Scout functions for my sisters where the playground is when I was a baby, I fell thru the ice at the dam one winter ice skating on the pond, we played Frisbee all over that place, went to the flower gardens at the Carillon's (which also happens to be the highest point in the city, FYI) every year during blooming, and made hundreds of bike rides thru there. When I was in high school, during the summer weekend days, it would take you no less than 1 hour to make one time around the park... Now those were FUN DAYS!!!

Had a lot of fun with regular tourists from Canada. They said that they prefer to get their medical exams here rather than Chicago it's safer and the people here are nicer. One got really fiesty with me when i accidentally offered to buy him a beer at the local bar. (Perphaps some Quebec swears, I don't speak French but it sounded weird) I hope they continue to feel the same about our medical facilities and decide to come again next year. I will miss you Liam. Au revoir!!
