This is one of the best wineries in the valley. They're wines are above exceptional (even in Napa) and have membership levels that can be pretty attractive if you visit often or live in the area. When I take friends usually one person in my group joins. The wines really are that great. The tour is pretty neat and they will take you through the tank room during the off seasons. You do get to see the cave which is nice and they employ the more knowledgable guides, hosts and pourers in the area. They will always open your favorite wine if it's not among the selection they have open. Many of their wines have very limited case runs so being a member has it's privileges. Make reservations for the tour and to use the picnic area. I am a local and do belong to the winery, They are definitely known for their reds. If you're contemplating wineries in the area and have limited time, put this one on your list. I get to surrounding wineries/vineyards and some spend a lot of effort on their interiors but fail at winemaking, this one exceeds at winemaking and has managed to create a really great and comfortable tasting area and outdoor seating. One last thing, They have the best or second best view in all of Napa. No food although they occasionally cater for their new releases or just to be nice. Check their...
Read moreAnna Cupp the wine club manager is incompetent, dishonest, unhelpful and vindictive. I joined the wine club in April of 2018 on a visit to the winery. I was never told anything about a minimum required number of wine shipments that I must receive. January of 2019, I emailed Anna requesting that my membership be terminated as I am moving out of the country and received no reply. A couple of weeks later I received a welcome to the wine club packet in the mail and was mystified. I called Anna and explained again that I would not be here in February to accept a wine shipment and again asked her to cancel my membership. Anna basically refused. That same day Anna ran a charge for $214 on my credit card. Now I have to dispute this transaction with my credit card company. I have never seen such disgusting treatment of so-called members or customers anywhere. How can this be good for business?! I will tell everyone I know about this experience and warn them to stay away from Rutherford Hill Winery. Oh, I also joined Markham Vineyards wine club during the same visit last year. I relayed the same information to them about my upcoming move and received a nice email wishing me safe travels. I think Anna Cupp must be deranged or ...
Read moreSnobby. It is California so I shouldn’t be surprised, but the employees here are rude and make you feel unwelcome. Booked a wine tour months in advance. Showed up maybe 10 minutes early which seems normal to me, but apparently that was rude as everyone checking us in kinda mocked us. God forbid we’re not late. When we booked, it was advertised you could picnic which was a main reason we picked this spot. By the time for our tour arrived, picnics are now some ungodly cost like $200 to sit in an empty area. Relax. Its not THAT pretty. The wine was fine. Honestly tastes no different than a 20 dollar bottle at the grocery store, but I was assured these grapes had “been through it”. Lol. what did they grow up on the streets of O block? Such a pretentious place, even for napa. I also was treated like a child when after an hour into the wine tour I asked if I could walk to the bathroom. Look, I would not be asking if I didnt need it. You think I just share my bathroom needs for fun? Lastly, our guide shamed us for sitting in the wrong spot on the tour. Im sorry, I thought when you said “sit and enjoy” you meant any available chair, not just the one in the dark corner. I would not return and I will not be...
