AVIOD, AVOID, AVOID!
I purchased two cases of wine (24 bottle) on July 16, 2008 from Rutherford Winery and paid shipping charges to be shipped to my residence in southern California. I was concerned about the way they ship the wine in 100 degree temperature without damaging the wine. They assured me that it will be shipped when the weather is cool and they guaranteed that it will not be spoiled. When I received the wine, temperature in southern California where I live, was almost 100 degree Fahrenheit consecutively for four to five days. I asked the UPS delivery person how long the wine has been on his truck before it was delivered to me, he replied for past three days and the truck is not air conditioned. Knowing wine will spoil in hi temperature I refused to accept delivery and had the spoiled wine return to Rutherford Winery. I have tried many times without successes, to either get refund for the wine or have it delivered to me when the weather is not so hot. They refused to do either. They told me if I want my wine I have to go to their winery in Napa Valley that is 400 miles away from where I live and pick up the same wine that was spoiled. No refund, no exchange. They where so rude and they hung up on me. On September 20, 2013, I finally drove up to the winery to resolve the issue. John Trant, manager in charge, told me there was nothing he could do for me since he could not find the order and they no longer have the wine they sold me. He ignored the purchase receipt I had in my hand and all other documents relating to the purchase and delivery. This company can't be trusted. They took hundreds of dollars of my money and are illegally keeping it. Don't make the same mistake. Never buy wine to be delivered from this company. My only alternative is to file a law suite...

Read moreWhat an amazing array of wines! My husband and I were on a bike tour of Napa Valley and decided to have our lunch at this winery. First of all, it does feel as if it is away from some of the other major wineries (such as Robert Mondavi) so it is not completely overcome with tourists (always a plus when trying to get a more intimate feel of wine country). We did the chocolate and wine pairing while waiting for our lunch to be prepared and we could not have been happier. Our host was extremely friendly. Even though the tasting room was busy, the staff was able to find time to spend with all of the guests. The wines were so delicious! We even decided to have some shipped home with us!
UPDATE: I recently received the two wines that I ordered to be shipped home to Arizona and they were in absolute perfect condition when we received the package. Being from a hot state, our main concern was that the wines would spoil if we had them shipped back. But that was not the case. Can't wait to enjoy our...
