Nice museum, a reminder of the Acadians who were kicked out of Canada in 1755 for refusing to swear allegiance to the British crown and who for their majority came to Louisiana. There is a beautiful mural painted by Robert Dafford depicting Acadian refugees at the time of their arrival. The painter used descendants of these Acadians as models.

I went here with my elderly uncle.

We skipped the audio presentation because my mom was outside waiting with the dog because pets are not allowed inside. Also, my uncle doesn't here very well, so I wasn't sure how an audio presentation would have worked out for him.

The mural is beautiful, but what my Uncle really wanted to show me was the wall with the names of the Acadians who came to Louisiana in the 1700s. I found both sides of my family on that wall. It was very moving.

Note: The man working at the memorial told me (when asked) that he is from Pensacola and is now retired. I think they should get a local, a Cajun to work at...

Started with the mural presentation, which was immensely educational. Suggest that any visitor start there.

Found my 5x great grandfather's name on the memorial wall, which was the culmination of many years of research that my lovely wife had done for me. I am a descendent of the original 3,000....

A fantastic experience and a must for any true Cajun.

The gentleman that staffed the place was...
