So peaceful however I just turned into the driveway ... had my car in reverse waiting for a vehicle to move so i could back up and straighten out my car when a ranger informed me that I had to move my car and stay off the wood outlining the spot something I was trying to do but couldn't because it was his vehicle that was in the way. I wasn't on the wood but pretty close to it. He must have been having a bad day since he didn't notice my window was up and had to repeat himself once I could hear him. Stayed there many times and its has always been lovely but that just hit me wrong. 1st time we stayed I listened to a hoot owl hoot all night. Beautiful sound. Very level grounds. My advise..if a ranger comes to talk to you..offer some tea or cookies...he has a lot of personalities he has to deal with. And thank you for reminding me there are pipes all over the grounds. Be safe and careful. Too nice of a park to lose over human...
Read moreIt's a nice quiet campground with friendly staff...however why I gave it 4 stars is because when we first arrived we had to check in and asked the guy in the front office if anyone from our group had checked in and he told us NO. We then learned we had to pay to park on our campsite, which is $5 per vehicle. We paid $10 since we had 2 vehicles on our site. When we got around to our site, we saw my friends son who was camping with us, and he told us he just paid $10 for our vehicles and checked in!🙄 We literally asked the man if anyone had checked in, and he said NO! FORTUNATELY, our other friends that were camping on the site next to us hadn't made it in, so we called them and told them just checking in, and we already had their parking passes. Also, the shower we'll gets hot, but the pressure is just NOT there... and the bathrooms are a little on...
Read moreThere are sand spurs everywhere! It's hard to believe anything state park would be so careless about something that causes harm to the public, that is easily preventable! Camp hosts could spend 1 hour a day digging sand spurs up (the ONLY way to eradicate them) and burning the (the ONLY way they won't reproduce elsewhere).
Shameful, is all that can be said about a state park that allows them to grow! Children, pets and grown-ups get them in he feet/paws and can bring them into their camper, them bring them back home to spread! The hurt terribly ( for those that don't know what they are) when they stick into your feet/paws, and can break off into flesh causing infections. You'll know them when you...
