We wish we could provide 5/5 for this location and feel awkward reading the other reviews.
Our visit was early in May and we did receive a follow up email to for our arrival. On our way we had called to update our arrival time and left a message. Upon our arrival we came to find no response to the door bell, and a code push entry door. We called again only to receive a answering machine (the phone rang with in the home, no cell number). We only gained access as a fellow guest was leaving ( she shared a similar issue) and she let us in and provided the code numbers for the door.
We knocked on the door inside the foyer, again to receive no answer. We did have our room name and looked to see if anything was left for us and we did find our guest receipt in the room we reserved and so proceeded to make ourselves at home.
Had it not been for the kindness of the other guest, we were almost forced to look for another accommodation for the evening. No one return our messages and without those guest providing a code number ( which was not emailed to us, nor if our calls where return we would have then received the information) we would have had no other choice.
The morning staff, seemed unaware of our arrival and our breakfast was not as we had expected (our fellow guest had been there several times before and stated, it was less than what they were used too).
We went to settle our bill, and the staff member was very unaware we had yet to pay for our stay. She did take care of the matter and we were on our way.
We were looking toward a relaxed experience, but we must say we did not get that vibe on our visit.
We hope for what ever reason, this is not the norm of this...
Read moreIts not very often that I write a review of ANY place I stay, but this was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast and of course I had no idea what to expect.. I had originally told Rosalyn (the owner/innkeeper) that we would be there around 6-7, well we ran late and didn't think we would be there till around 8:30-9, so I called to let her know, she was so pleasant, and said no worries, told us the code to get in and our key would be on the table, and yes that is exactly where it was, but to our surprise she was still up and greeted us with open arms. We stayed in the Still Water Suite, and it was exactly as we expected, and the room was immaculate, along with the bathroom, which I usually inspect with a squinted eye..lol It was perfect, cozy warm, and beautifully decorated... In the morning she prepared us breakfast, but our table was set with fresh fruit , and she offered to make us anything we wanted... We decided to stay in that day as the weather was rainy, but I was just the perfect get away.. You can go down stairs and get coffee as you wish, oh and the BROWNIES, if you go you must try them.. She has a saying on the wall in the entry way "You come as guests, and leave as friends" That is exactly true, We had awesome conversation, and lots of laughs... Honestly I could go on and on about how wonderful The Whistling Swan is, but if you looking for a wonderful clean cozy romantic getaway, no need to look any further, this is it. We are already planning our next trip Rosalyn....You made our first experience in a bed and breakfast as wonderful as we had hoped, thank you for your amazing hospitality and your warm and inviting conversation. We hope to see you...
Read moreThis is a something like above regular b & b that you expect. If you are trying to compare with airbnb, don’t. I have a quite few pros for this lovely place. Breakfast with beautiful garden. I was under estimating b&b like “complementary food” it’s not like pathetic motel free food. I really recommend you to try their outside table, you will see the fountain, lotus pond and the gazebo. We are typicalNYC condo residents, so the beautiful garden worth $100. In addition, if you book on a day with egg soufflé, you get a jackpot. Have fun with fluffy creative breakfast. Interior. I know many tourists don’t care about quality of interior and furniture rather we care about $, but owners really paid attention to how they look when you walk into the house. You will see what I mean when you arrive this place. EV charger. They invest the infrastructure +10 years. Since we are one of typical NYC tourist who use Tesla to travel, you must know how much we love this place for extra miles by charging over night. I gotta say, its like our gateway vacation place from this year and we appreciate the insight of owner’s perspective about post COVID-19 tourism.
If you staying this b&b I recommend Horse back riding e.g “tranquility equine wellness center” National Park - Dingmans Falls Wineries, breweries, cideriers, and farms.
Bonus: never miss visiting Bell’s Mansion near by! Absolutely blast on...
