This place was SUPER FUN! We went the weekend before Labor Day AND Labor Day weekend when Lake Fairfax's The Water Mine was full to capacity! The Water Mine looked WAY to packed to be fun, so Volcano Island wasn't too far from there and seemed fun. We had SOOO much fun in the pools with my five-year old nephew, and they even have life jackets for the little ones. And while it was VERY busy, it wasn't slam packed so there was room to play and swim! In the pool for small children, he really enjoyed the huge bucket that would fill with water and then dump down all over everyone. The water pressure from that bucket pouring down was kind of hard, so I wouldn't recommend anyone younger than him because of their soft heads. But there was a LOT more things for small children, and grown-ups, to enjoy. In the bigger, deeper pool I went down one of the two big slides they had, the open one, as opposed to the other enclosed one, and MAN did it zip me around and down! Super fun! They also let us throw our nerf football around in the deeper pool. We also played golf, and while the course left much to be desired, it was still fun. The staff was SUPER friendly and there were plenty of lifeguards around. The cafe is a little bit hidden in the back, but once you know it's there, you can get the usual junk food. You can also bring your own food and eat outside on the picnic tables they have, and we even saw three friendly deer over there. They played good music ranging from Jimmy Buffet to Soldiers of Jah Army (SOJA), and much more. Overall we had a GREAT visit and will be returning next year for sure! I would recommend it to anyone with kids, or who is a...
Read moreSo happy we made the drive out to this waterpark. The playground was the most fun for us. We didn't realize the giant bucket would come down so fast but it was quite a shock. It seems to spill about every 5 minutes. There were also a lot of different interactive knobs that controlled the water to play with. There were about 3 lifeguards at all times in the playground and they were always rotating and walking in the circle. In the main pool the bigger slides all connect to it. The only downside to the main pool was that the ladders are a little trickier to get up depending upon your upper body strength or the age of the person. There is however a long ramp that descends it to the more shallow end that makes access easier if you stay in the shallow end. The life jackets were easy to spot and there were a variety of sizes. The splash pad is smaller, but it is nice that this is an extra option. The concession area where they give you the food is located inside, but it is nice that the food is kept in one specific location so you don't have to worry about bugs if you are lounging. The lounging chairs are abundant, however when choosing them if you are going to stay all day take note that what is shaded in the morning is not towards the...
Read moreThis was a nice little water park nearby. It has lots of different things to do, such as a splash pad, a splash zone in the water with a fun water slide for younger kids, two big water slides for 48” and up, a small pirate ship water slide in the larger pool, and a large open swimming area. My 6 and 2 year olds had a blast! The lifeguards were very diligent about their duties, as they walked up and down the pool sides, constantly surveying the area. I was disappointed that the small slide for little kids was broken both times we went here. You can’t bring in outside food, which was also disappointing since the only food available for purchase had no healthy options. You can bring food and eat it outside the park on the picnic tables if they are available. There were lots of school and daycare groups that made it quite crowded. Once the groups left, it was much more manageable. The locker rooms were not very well kept. It was messy, smelly, and the floors were super slippery. Management should really put in a non-slip floor to keep everyone safe, especially...
