Fallingwater Museum Store — Attraction in Stewart Township

I think the store buyer (not the store clients) needs to be better educated with regards to the merchandise that they are buying for the store to resell. I could not find anything that was worthwhile from artistic perspective, as compared to 6 years ago when the shop was filled with unique mid-century modern items. So I had to settle for a pair of earrings that was my favorite color of cobalt blue. I asked two separate people if these earrings were hypoallergenic and I was assured numerous times that they indeed are. I happily put them on, although design was very mass-produced with just a piece of glass on the tip of a metallic post. Ordinarily the allergy takes at least an hour to surface through itching ear lobes. This time the allergy surfaced in less than half an hour with a burning sensation. I brought the merchandise back for a refund and instead of an apology for misinformation I was showered with doubt and dissatisfied looks from the clerks. The comments about hypoallergenic content of the earrings were made quite loud throughout the shop with a very passive aggressive demeanor. It was certainly a show that was worth watching, with the theater production unraveling about how to issue a refund. Then we had a blank discussion about trying to convince me that I am indeed making this up because indeed the earrings are perfectly hypoallergenic. I believe that in such a historical landmarks the staff that is responsible for conducting a transaction should be at the very least knowledgeable about basic customer service practices. Soooo many lovely items. I love the earrings that use Wright's designs, mostly windows and rug patterns in pretty colors. I have earrings from visits to Taliesin and Taliesin West, but the selection here was better. Many, many books, scarves, votive candle holders, even window panels and table pieces in various sizes, note paper, children's stuff, too much to list. More FLW items than I have ever seen as well as things related to other architects...

Lovely gift store at Fallingwater. I wasn’t buying anything really but it was great fun to look. I appreciate that they have items by local artists, that you can use your own tote if you have one and that they carried many items that are made from reclaimed or recycled materials.
