My family and I come here a lot and this is the worst experience I've had at this location. On Sunday 9/20 Starlite hosted a $15 Glow Skate event where you received a little rinky dink bracelet, and unlimited pizza and soda. My children were ready for their pizza. So we walked over to the counter and it's about 20 cups on the counter filled with soda/juice WITHOUT lids on them. I thought that was very unsanitary to have open cups on the counter where people are speaking over them giving orders and for God knows what to fall in to the cups. These were the unlimited drinks offered in the $15 special. How gross?! So I just ask for my children's pizza. I asked for a pepperoni slice of pizza and a slice of cheese it was given to my children with no problem. Next I place an order for a combo + drink, 2 separate orders of fries, and a medium drink as well. She said give her 20 minutes and I did. My youngest child went to ask for another slice of pepperoni pizza and was told pepperoni pizza isn't free. Now 20 minutes ago it was, now cheese pizza is the only FREE option with the $15 special. Now in the flyer it said UNLIMITED PIZZA AND SODA! Like, really guys?! I asked was my order ready and I was given my combo. I asked about my fries and the server told me, "There in the basket with the combo." Why would you put 3 orders of fries in one basket? It was two separate orders of fries and I made that clear when I ordered. With the nastiest attitude she says, "Ugh, I'll just do it over." She had the audacity to have an attitude with me, when she made the error, very unacceptable! Due to her attitude I did not want her touching my food in fear she may do something to it. She also gave me the wrong size drink and when asked to change it she caught an attitude all over again. It's clearly on the receipt so I don't know what her issue was. So that's when the manager had to be of service and she had to step in and make the orders. My children wanted to play in the gym/play area, but was yelled at my one of your employees they had to get out because they didn't have on the correct colored bracelet. Paying $15 for a few slices of pizza, a spore filled drink, and skating? We had our own skates by the way. But that's what $15 covered only, and you wanted me to pay more for another bracelet what a rip off. I have been a loyal customer for YEARS and this was my first bad experience and I am extremely disappointed this happened. Just wanted to enjoy a nice day with my children and it was ruined due to incompetence, and false...
Read moreWas very disappointed in this place I use to bring my little brother here all the time for the schools skate nights now my son had a school skate night here and it was very disappointing there was a mixup on the entry fee and students were told $17 but then they were like no it's $17.25 the principal tried to explain that some kids were dropped off with exactly $17 and didn't have the quarter but this Center would not budge. He ended up paying for the students who didn't have the difference which to me is absurd there was easily three to four hundred students here all at $17 a piece plus their parents like myself at $17 and you're telling me you couldn't afford to spot some students a quarter? Also the all-you-can-drink was advertised as Sprite but it was clearly not Sprite but some flat cheap off-brand something and I think the other was just regular Kool-Aid however the pizza was pretty good the other problem too was the skates look like they were from the 80s and 90s and I'm pretty sure they actually were the original skates they probably bought in the 80s or 90s overall the atmosphere was good but the problems coming in the door and the fact they didn't accept cash so you had to pay extra to get a little card if you have Cash Plus the whole 25-cent Fiasco was actually very disconcerning especially since this was the first time my son school had ever done anything like this in quite honestly I feel like if you're tripping over a quarter you obviously don't care too much about your business when hundreds of students and their parents are patronizing your business. I almost forgot the other issue was at one point when entering it said something about print out this QR code for quick entry or something but it didn't tell people it was charge them a $5 convenience fee so this one parent and her son paid an extra $10 because they chose to get a scannable qr-code again a fee that was not put out or mentioned or until after you had done it again a very shady business practice oh yeah and if you're a first-time skater and you want to use the little Walker thing to help you they charge you $6. Really? That should be free to use that be like going to the bowling alley and then charging you $6 to use the handicap...
Read moreI wanted to 4-star this rink, but I can't. I forced myself to be fair by giving it 3 stars, and I'll speak on a reason why later. But first: Upkeep and reckless are what comes to mind when I think on this rink. The two only add to how overpriced this place is. Whether or not you play the arcades or on the play gyms, you'll definitely pay for the entire "experience" on Saturdays and Sundays.
I'll start with upkeep. The rink's floor is filthy. Food, straw wrappers, gum, old spills, etc., can be found on many areas of the skate floor, only adding to the hazard that are reckless younger skaters doing bad renditions of more experienced skaters. I've lost count of how many times I've seen them crash into other skaters, including little ones, get up and keep going without offering a helping hand. They possess no skate etiquette and pretty much take over the rink. It's truly skate at your own risk for everyone else. Skate Trainers are everywhere. It's like people rent them to abandon them, and they'll leave them in the path of other skaters on the rink floor. The sidelines are no better. There are discarded skates, abandoned shoes, empty bottles, drink cups, food wrappers, BODIES (live ones), etc., everywhere. Nobody picks up behind themselves or picks themselves up, and the staff doesn't seem too concerned either. And let's not forget the young people holding up self-supporting walls, making getting onto the rink floor a chore and a hazard, since they'll sit along the rink with their feet dangling out onto the floor.
The one redeeming quality of this rink was the young guy who used to be behind the counter. I returned to this rink after about a two-week absence and only recognize two faces, one of which is the lady manager (owner?). The young man who used to be there knew so much about skates, wheels, etc. I purchased skates there because of his knowledge and service after the sale. I'm not sure how much the new staff knows, but he helped earn the 3rd star on this review.
It's not for me to tell someone what to do with and about their business, but in this case, do better, would be good advice, especially with what...
