Settlement Quarry Preserve
Settlement Quarry Preserve trail is an easy 1.6 mile hike from the parking lot, that opens up on top of a 160 foot elevation gain tail at the old quarry. The preserve lies 2 miles northeast of Stonington on Settlement Hill and has been closed since the 1980’s. Scenic views of Webb Cove, Merchant Row, Isle au Haut, and the Camden Hills. The granite layers with natural splits are still visible, some with the man made holes and hooks. You can clearly see the color specs in the granite. Watch out for bugs!
