As someone who makes apple wine and cider every year, I am always on the lookout for reasonably priced apples for my hobby. This year I decided to call around once again and see what deals could be had on "cider apples" you know the ones, they look weird but taste identical to those picture perfect ones you get from the grocery store or the orchard stands.
I called Belkin Farms, Honey Pot, Dowse Orchards, Highland Farm, and finally Carver Hill. Their prices for these cider apples was 1/4 what the other places were charging if they were selling any at all (Belkin makes their cider from all of theirs.) I know that things are getting more and more expensive, but these aren't show apples, and $1 a pound for "seconds" isn't even almost reasonable.
$10 a bushel for cider apples, can't get a better deal than that anywhere.

Small parking lot but space still available when we arrived about 1030 and left around 1pm. Small apples this year. Currently 4 variety available. Pumpkins available as well. Pay cash or w card. Good cider and cider donuts! The store is cute, has some.prodice and other local goods. Pies looked good! Lions club was there cooking burgers, hotdogs and fries for a quick bite on your way out to support local charities

Fresh cider donuts top it off in their compact store offering hand picked fruits, vegetables and local specialties honey, maple syrup and more from their neighborhood. Not the easiest to find but once you do you'll be back. A treat nestled in the country a couple miles north of another, but massive 'pick your own' orchard where one has to wait to find parking, sort through swarms of city folk and then wait in another line to check out. If you call ahead they'll let you know which are ready when. Do yourself a favor hop in the car, set your phone to find Carver Hill Orchards ......
