This underutilized park is a gem. Consisting of several buildings it has some open for tour including the turn of the century homestead which contains all the furnishings of the last surviving Boothe brothers. The quirky brothers also built a church with a clock tower, and an amazing Lincoln log looking building all done in 4x6" western redwood. This houses a extensive mineral collection. The volunteer staff is excellent and explains the history of the family. One barn has an extensive collection of farm equipment including a display of looms, spinning wheels and if your lucky you will find a weaver at work. There are also gardens and picnic areas.

Beautiful grounds with some interesting history. A bit annoyed with the inconvenience and discrepancy of openings of certain buildings. Checked the website and it stated it was open on Sundays for tours. Upon arrival, half of the buildings were locked and closed off to the public. A volunteer stated certain buildings were now open according to the summer schedule on Saturday NOT Sunday (June to later date), which ISNT posted online. I had hopes of viewing the WHOLE grounds, but weren’t afforded to do so due to this discrepancy of hours of operation.

This park is a wonderful spot with something for everyone! It has a great playground for the kids, a BBQ area perfect for gatherings, open fields for outdoor activities, and a beautiful flower garden that adds a lovely touch to the space. I mostly visit for outdoor photoshoots, and it’s always a perfect backdrop. Plenty of parking, too, which makes it easy to enjoy a stress-free visit. Definitely a great place to spend some time outdoors!" Also, I’m a photographer—feel free to follow me on Instagram: @mr.3verything 📸

I grew up down the street and my great grandfather's picture hangs in one of the buildings. My Great Grandfather & sons had the first charcoal business in this area. My Great Grandmother used to pasture her cows on the Mill River Country Club Golf Course and at one time was in the family, the golfers golfed around the cows-(most of the time-woops!). I had the pleasure of watching the flowers bloom every year at the park and my Great Grandfather is buried in the cemetary there, his wife didn't want to be buried there after sleeping next to the-"old fool"-getting kicked every night whe was buried on the other end of town. I grew up sledding down the hills, riding the kiddie rides the spring held rockets and animals you rocked on, watching the birds in the Aviary-(amazing). I remember when they moved the old Putney Chapel across the street from the round about thingy that was there when I was little. Sledding on the golf course hills was always fun & usually a few tears shed before done. This park is one you'll never get to see anything else like it anywhere. It's special to me and my family and to most everyone that does go to see it. Tulips umparelleled as well as all the little out buildings. I was fortunate enough to get to take my own son there as a child and I hope you'll take yours when and if your ever in the area. Pack a picknic lungch and bring a blanket walk down and get your spot where the kids can ride the slide and swing and twirl and have the time of your life. I hope my spelling isn't too bad my new glasses aren't working so hot! But...

Nice park to visit in the Fall. Highlights of the park include, a colonial home built in the 1800's. It is (and has been for a while) open to the public for guided group tours. An appointment is needed. Also, they have the Merritt Parkway toll booth from when they had tolls on CT highways, which was 15+ years ago. Park also features a cemetery, old wind mill, a flower garden and nice views of the Housatonic river. If you go down the hill, a playground, baseball field and small picnic shelter can be found. Almost forgot to mention, wedding ceremonies can also be arranged at this park, (not sure how but it is really a lovely and quite place so I can see why people would want to.) and I have seen several on weekends when driving by. I would highly recommend visiting this park if your passing through town. Free parking, no fees.

Roosevelt Forest is just 5 minutes away from this park. If you are looking for trails to hike, that is a great option. Interesting site, as well if your...

Went for their opening day event. Everything was great except for the balloon guy. We went by so the kids could get balloon animals and he wasn't there, guy there told us to come back in a bit. So we wondered around the museum and came back he was making balloon animals for some other kids so my kids went running up all excited. He looked right at them and said I'm all done and slammed his kit shut. What we came by 3 times? And the event still had another hour or so to go? He was very nasty said well you should have come by earlier and that he starter earlier then he should of and he was tired. I get it and I'm sure he was but the nastiness to my kids was uncalled for. Not even an I'm sorry just a nasty I'm done and and nasty comments about how it was our fault even though he was just making balloons when we walked up. Someone like that should not be working with kids. My little ones...
