I happened upon this quaint Aviation museum as I was traveling through Illinois and could not resist stopping to take a tour. I have always had an appreciation for the military so this was a cool experience to be able to walk around and view the various aircrafts (BONUS: you can even climb completely inside a few of them!!) The tour is self guided so you go along at your own pace. They do provide an informational sheet detailing the various aircrafts, which was useful. Read moreOk, wow. The military air enthusiast will not be disappointed! A total of 12 vehicles, some in which you can enter and get in the cockpits. The staff are retired military veterans with extensive knowledge and love for the planes and helicopters. The museum's collection is substantial and worth the time to investigate. There's even a library with manuals and educational books (you can't check out the books though). The price was affordable and the experience was unforgettable. Read moreReally enjoyed our day. We had a guided tour by a veteran who was a volunteer there. He told us the history behind the planes, his own personal experience as well as others who work there. The planes were truly amazing to see. Inside has all kinds of military service things from uniforms to metals to engines of aircraft.
