When you live in a large city, there is a good chance that you have a variety of sports entertainment. Here in the Houston area, we have our nationally known teams, but we also have minor league sports and one of the teams happens to play in the suburb of Sugar Land. The team is the Sugar Land Skeeters and the ballpark is known as Constellation Field.
The Sugar Land Skeeters play in the Atlantic League and they have called Constellation Field their home for several years. This ballpark holds about 7,500 spectators, so it is far more cozy and intimate than the typical big league park. Because the seats and rows are limited, there really are no bad views. Any seat is a good seat and the prices are relatively inexpensive.
The game on the field is the main action at a Skeeters game, but there is much more going on here than that. There is a basketball court, swimming pool, and childrenβs playground surrounding the outfield so if you have kids and they want some side action, you will have no problem finding something else to do. Concessions are reasonably priced, too, and the beer selection is quite good for a small stadium.
Parking is a breeze at Constellation Field. Again, with a capacity of 7,500 max, there are a limited number of cars in the parking lot and that means an easier than average time finding a place to park. Even at the furthest distance from the entrance, the walk from your car to the main gate isnβt bad at all.
Baseball is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening and Constellation Field is a great place to watch a minor league team. The many extras, the nice variety of food and beer, the ease of getting to and from your seat, and the reasonable prices make Constellation Field a ballpark you...
Β Β Β Read moreWe attended the New Yearβs Eve party at Constellation Field last night and had mixed feelings about the experience. The Holiday Lights display was impressive and added a festive touch to the evening. We were at the Regions Bank Club for the New Yearβs Eve Ball, and the space itself was niceβcomfortable seating, not overcrowded, and offering great views of the field. The DJ kept the energy up with a variety of music, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. Unfortunately, the food was a major letdown. The event was advertised as including a buffet dinner, but the offerings were minimal: mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and a single piece of chicken. Guests could choose between wings, legs, or thighs, but only one piece per person was allowed. When I asked for both a leg and a wing, the server informed me I had to pick just one. My husband chose a thigh which was even smaller than the leg. For a $125 ticket, this was incredibly disappointing. If providing a decent meal wasnβt feasible, they could have opted for a less costly but more filling option, like pizza. Instead, many attendees resorted to buying food from the concession stands, which felt absurd for an event of this price and caliber. The lack of a champagne toast at midnight was another letdown, and the wine in a can felt underwhelming for a New Yearβs celebration. While the fireworks display was enjoyable and lasted about 10 minutes, and the free parking was appreciated, these positives didnβt make up for the overall experience. If youβre planning your New Yearβs Eve celebration for next year, Iβd recommend exploring other options. This event didnβt deliver the value expected...
Β Β Β Read moreBeautiful stadium for a day out at the ballpark. We love to spend a day out at the ballpark and being new to the area we thought this would be ideal. Day was hot, but there are nice spots to grab a little shade and take a break. Concessions were good. A little high on prices but that is to be expected. Gift shop had a lot of items with reasonable prices so you won't go broke grabbing something for the kids if you go with family. They won the game, which was great, but the biggest disappointment was the staff and kids groups in attendance. A group of little league baseball / softball players were in attendance and were sitting in our seats when we arrived. We told the kids and they looked at us like we were crazy until finally the usher told them to move.....not the whole group without tickets for those seats, just the two in our seats. Why? She clearly knew they were not supposed to be there, and isn't her job to make sure people are where they are supposed to be? Of course, whoever was chaperoning the kids was not doing their part either, and that is just as upsetting. Groups should be relegated to certain areas if they are going to be allowed to do whatever they want during the game. When you get tickets to enjoy a game, the last thing you want to do is leave early, but when you are surrounded by screaming 8 and 9 year olds with no manners and supervision, you don't have a lot of options. Skeeters management needs to do something about this. I am sure that plenty of other adults trying to enjoy a game get frustrated with this type of atmosphere. I don't see us returning to catch another game here...
