We've been coming to Woodward since the day it opened. Both my boys enjoy the indoor and outdoor facilities. Now we have a membership and attend 2-3 times a week. The facilities are really nice. The staff are helpful and friendly when you're there.
There are some issues I have had though, mainly dealing with guest services. I'm leaving these comments in a review, because I think someone at Woodward may end up reading this at some point, whereas if I send an email it may never get read.
1- Emails are never answered, and if they are it takes a very long time to receive a response. I haven't received a response from my last email three months ago regarding changes made to the member passes, so I had to ask in person.
2- They can't seem to figure out the best approach for member vouchers. I wish they'd just let members decide how to use their 2 vouchers.
3- It's challenging to get through to a guest services rep on the phone. This morning I had to call three times to deal with a reservation change, and never spoke to a human being. It was just after 10 a.m. on a Friday morning. It shouldn't be that busy there.
4- It's hard to reserve your vouchers online. I usually have to call to reserve those.
5- Currently members get two vouchers but they have to use them a certain way. We are unable to use our lesson voucher due to the fact they have their member lessons at 5 p.m. on random days that aren't posted online. When I asked in person for a schedule, they couldn't give me one and said they'd email me the schedule, but never did. I thought when they had told me about this change, that we would be able to be use the voucher during their regular group lesson times, whenever those are. Most resorts have group lessons at set times such as 10 and at 1, 2 hr sessions, so I thought it would be something like that. I know this because I have worked in the resort industry for 10 years total (from 1999-2020). Having the members use their lesson voucher at 5 p.m. makes it so that we can never use the group lesson voucher because 5 p.m. is just too late and we live too far away. 5 p.m. would also be too cold and the snow too hard/fast esp. for a snowboard lesson, in my opinion (I've instructed all 10 years and never taught a lesson past 5 p.m.).
7- I've worked in a mountain ops rental shop. We were trained there on how to do everything from setting up equipment, maintenance and repairs. My expectation is that anyone working in a rental shop would know how to fix equipment. That has not been my experience...
Read moreThey scam you. Although the resort is fun they have predatory business practices. I only wanted a month membership, they charged me a second month after the first month ended I immediately asked for a refund was told they would after I submitted a form. I submitted the form. Looked like things were good the charge was off my account then they decided to change their minds and charge me anyways. I contacted them on the phone, they said it’s their policy to only refund you half if it’s within 48 hours of renewal. I wasn’t satisfied with that and told them I had no intentions of a second month when I made the first months purchase and that that was a scammy business practice and that if they didn’t refund me there would be further issues. They then called me back and told me they wouldn't refund me at all. My further issues (a bad review, a complaint to the better business bureau, a credit card dispute, me personally never going to your resort again, and speaking poorly of your business practices from henceforth.) Why not just treat customers with some basic respect and not try to scam them. Unfortunately this isn’t the first poor experience I had with them, when I payed for the first month membership I had only ever been there once prior on a night ski. The lady at the front desk had a really negative attitude. I asked if the promo code I was given last night ski would still work for my first month, she said no. I tried it and it did work. She then felt the need to tell me that she saw I had been a week earlier for a night ski and tell me she thought about refunding me for that night sense I bought a month membership but that she wasn’t going to. ??🧐 I suppose just be rude. Honestly a bummer. A business can do so many things right but failing in critical areas like the way you treat customer’s and business practices can be...
Read moreWe went here with a party of 10 to do some tubing on 12/21/24
The tickets were expensive, the little Subaru kiosk thing didn’t print out tickets correct, the RFID reader at the gate was a bit finicky, there could be some long lines that developed later in the day and the little conveyor belt that moves you up made me very motion sick on my first ride up it.
but none of that mattered, dudes
The tubing lanes were well groomed and maintained despite a much dryer than normal winter. The staff (especially the handsome stud with the tan knitted cap today), were helpful, made sure people were going down safely and were rather encouraging to people that thought that tubing was some crap you just drag your children to (me).
Two sets of lanes: a gentler set for small kids under six and those who don’t want thrills that day. Another that goes surprisingly fast to a point where I nearly panicked about it. They are well designed with high banking so you cannot possibly go over the edge of it, angled in such a way to keep you mostly centered in the lanes, and the end has mats and is sloped enough to keep you from smashing into the end wall.
They staff will give you the option before they launch you to either be spun or not. We went for spinning each time, and each time I felt a bit ill by the time we reached the bottom. Something that I very much enjoyed.
The lanes also accommodate large parties as they did not seem at all hesitant to launch our party of 10 down the hill. It was pretty great going down with everyone at once.
As someone who most doctors would call “morbidly obese” (which they are correct), there aren’t too many places that can accommodate someone that is wanting to get a thrill and can’t exactly “strap in”. But the tubing lanes at Woodward provided that luxury to me today and I appreciate...
