Absolutely awful buying experience.

They lie about literally everything and have shady practices. They list a fake delivery timeframe, pretend like it takes a long time to build servers, send it way past the schedule, and then send it with much slower shipping and different carrier freight just to save like 0.5% on shipping while still charging you the flat rate.

Then, they pretend as if it was a mistake, don't really offer a resolution other than refunding you the difference for the shipping once caught red handed.

The servers were sent on a pallet all together in a way I've never seen it before, without any padding. A bunch of the rails broke off partially. Who knows if the servers even work, they missed our project deadline so we haven't even used them and had to go with another solution. Then, to make matters worse, after I have to contact eBay to open a return request again since it was incorrectly closed, they ask a loaded question about if I'm able to send it back properly and then close my request 2 days later because I didn't respond fast enough. I have been a regular customer of UNIXSurplus for several years, and am giving them two stars simply because the reliability of their used hard drives has historically been very high. My most recent transaction with them (an attempted purchase of 2 10TB drives for my NAS), however, left me looking for another supplier. They contacted me a couple of days later, claiming that the listing on EBay was a mistake on their part. They then offered me 2 8TB drives for the same price as they had listed for the 10TB. Oh, and they just sent part numbers so I had to go look up what the replacement capacities were. Worst buying experience. I️ chose the pickup option, which they provided. I️ emailed to get the address and confirmed I️ would pick it up. I️ got a prompt email response telling me to come over. When I️ showed up, it took 52 minutes and arguing with the manager to get what I️ bought and would have taken longer had I not made a scene. They were mad I️ chose the pickup option — then don’t offer it and certainly don’t confirm it.
