My family and I have been coming here almost every year since 2015 and I will say, it doesn't get old. Aside from the outstanding lights and decorations placed all over the speedway, this event provides a nostalgia feeling for all of us because when we first started coming here, our daughter was little. Now that she's much older, we just look back and talk about all the memories we've created during this event.
I don't have any background in purchasing tickets to this event in advance because I normally purchase them on the day I attend the event, at the speedway. Every time I do this, I don't run into any issues, therefore, I don't have a strong opinion on which method is better for everyone. One thing I wish this speedway would honor is a reduced rate for Armed Forces personnel, to include its Veterans. I know the event hosts a military night where all active and/or retired can get in for free; however, we can never make it to that event and I know of several people that would benefit even better it the reduced rate would be everyday until Christmas Day.
I enjoy how ~30% to 40% of the speedway's decoration changes every year, which makes it better for us to see things in different layouts so it doesn't become redundant. For this year (2023), I liked how they created an entire water area to hold all the marine life - before they were scattered all over the speedway which didn't really provide an adequate theme to it.
My only complaint about this whole event are the workers who attempt to control the traffic (I think they're volunteers). It appears that every year they try to create three lanes on Speedway Blvd, but no one seems to provide adequate/continuous direction for customers. With all the ignorant drivers in this city, some folks need that kind of direction so they know where to go to instead of taking up two lanes because they don't know where and how to line up. Additionally, I still see folks driving around with their vehicle lights on throughout the show. This is something I wish the workers collecting money for tickets would instruct people to turn off their headlights right then and there.
Overall, I like to visit this event. I can't give 5 stars based on what I just wrote above, but I still feel that 4 stars is a great rating. If you have never been here before, it's not too late to visit. I highly recommend this event...
Read moreDrove from Arizona to Las Vegas to be with my daughter and grandchildren. My daughter has been going to Glittering Lights at the Las Vegas Speedway for a few years now and wanted me to go. We all got in her SUV and headed out for our 45 minute drive. We arrived at 6:30 PM and the lines were LONG. We waited in line for 3 1/2 hours and finally got to the point of entry to start seeing the different light displays. The actual drive thru to see the lights took about 20 minutes. We were on the road heading back home at 10:30 PM and had another 45 minute drive. They close at 9:30 PM which is posted for this holiday event but the lines of cars were so long when we left, they probably stayed open way past 2:00 AM. At $30.00 per car, $5.00 for a bag of kettle pop corn and $5.00 for a hot chocolate, all per person, the cost for a family of 4 would be around $70.00. Now for the site opinion. I can do better driving through neighborhoods for 4 hours and would have seen more amazing displays of lights. The lights at the Speedway really are nothing to brag about. Could have made hot chocolate or picked some up at 7-11 for $1.39 a cup which would have tasted much better and purchase snacks anywhere including pop corn which would have been better tasting. I'm told that the per car cost that is collected goes to the Speedway and the pop corn receipts go to the Boy Scouts.. I would feel better if they donated the money to a needy cause or homeless shelters. Obviously I will not be going next year and my daughter will find a different venue to tour with her children. Again, there are neighborhoods that have amazing displays and it would have been a more exciting drive and not...
Read moreI just visited the Glittering Lights display a couple days ago, it was a lovely way to kick off the holiday season!
To start, let's talk about the lights - there are over 5 million of them spread across the 2.5-mile course, and they create a mesmerizing and enchanting spectacle. The magnitude of lights is pretty impressive, but given that they are spread out across such a large area, the lights are clustered in various areas. There are dazzling tunnels to beautifully themed displays, you'll find yourself surrounded by a twinkling wonderland that embodies the holiday spirit.
We weren't sure how busy it would be, so we opted for the Fast Pass ticket, that let us get in line before general admission ticket holders. We didn't have to wait at all to enter, which is nice during the busy holiday season when time is precious. Plus, the Fast Pass ticket also included some snacks to munch on during the drive-through, including a 6 pack of NA Heineken as they were one of the sponsors. It was a thoughtful touch that added to the overall experience.
The drive-through took us about half an hour to complete, it was a delightful journey filled with a mix of remarkable and just average displays. While some were more remarkable than others, the variety ensured that there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Overall, the Glittering Lights display will help you get into the holiday spirit. It's really a wonderful family-friendly experience that will leave the kids really impressed. The Fast Pass option is a smart choice if you want to avoid long lines. Gather your loved ones, bundle up, and prepare to be dazzled by the glittering...
