We came to the marina with our own tubes to float back to our house in sunriver. They first told us we had to pay $25 per tube to enter the public river. We had some lunch at the fantastic Mexican restaurant next door then came back over to pay and float. We sat on the bench outside the store and started to inflate our tubes (they do not have a pump) As we were inflating, a man came out and tried to awkwardly explain we cannot access the public river without renting their over priced equipment. I’m not sure what changed from what we were told earlier. We did not argue, but kept inflating our tubes on the bench with intent to find another launching location once we were done. The man quietly left and another lady came out. A female employee with dark hair and a blue shirt came out and aggressively threatened to call the police on us and have us trespassed. She stated even if we went to the boat ramp across the street she would call the cops (we are residents of sunriver and allowed to enter at the other ramp) We of course got up and left after being threatened by her calling the police. This female employee needs re-training on her professionalism and customer service. Her threat of misusing our local emergency services to trespass some Labor Day floaters needs to be reviewed by her higher ups. If you look at the other low star reviews you will see consistency in high prices, horrible employee attitudes, and overall bad representations of the sunriver resort. On the bright side, once we left a manager came to talk to us. He reviewed our shark card on the edge of their property and we walked over to the other boat launch to enter. Avoid this establishment at all costs. There are other ways to float the public river without paying a dime or having the police called on you. We have had a house here in sunriver since 1999. Used to come up to this marina to get food then float back to our house. At some point this marina monopolized the area forcing everyone to pay who wants to enter. Tourist cash grab with no...
Read moreHORRIBLE!!!! My opinions are my own about my family's experience at the marina. First off, intertubing down a river for 3 hours guided only by the current of the sunriver creates a situation of potentially unpleasant variables. We weren't offered paddles and no one informed us of what could go wrong if the current of the river forces your intertube against an embankment. It's possible to get your intertube stuck against a protruding tree . Without an instrument to help you guide your intertube it's damn near impossible to control the intertube. My family quickly became separated as our intertubes entered the river. Our driver told us there would be no problems and that we could sleep for duration of intertube floating down the river. In our case, nothing could be further from the truth. My son got scared and at one point got his intertube stuck in an embankment. I was helpless to help him and I had to rely on the help of strangers to release my son's raft from the embankment. I am so grateful they were there to help because the resort marina doesn't have anyone on the river to check on you during your trip. Very irresponsible in my opinion. Some one could get seriously hurt. My poor wife had to tow the rest of us to shore. Needless to say I was LIVID, and received a full refund from the management. If you decide to take your family down the river know what you getting yourself into before you decide to do it. Wear lots of sunscreen or you will get sunburned. Don't go in an intertube without a paddle. Again this just my honest opinion, about my family's very...
Read moreBE AWARE river users!!! if you attempt to exit the river from one of the boat ramps at the SunRiver marina, and are not a home/condo owner/renter or member of the SRHOA, you will encounter a posse of walkie talkie packing clowns looking to enforce a $40 per vessel fee for using the Marina's boat ramp, and if you do not pay the fine they threaten to not open the exit gate to the marina for you to be able to leave the facility, and/or call the police. There are no signs up river at Harper Road Bridge or Besson Day use area notifying river users that the marina is now completely private and non-accessible to the public. If you have used the boat ramp at the marina previously to set up a shuttle for floaters/paddlers as I have many times, you will now encounter a group of Marina employees hounding and surrounding you, aggressively posturing and threatening you with fees, fines, and potential police interaction for using the boat ramp at the marina. When you speak to management about the issue they state their corporate scripted practices and walk away and leave with another group of cronies in the rental shop that stare at you blankly with their hands shrugged. I get it, you have a policy to enforce, but there is no need for the hard lined aggression and threats to the public for mistakenly using a boat ramp that comes off the...
