The lake itself is beautiful. Being from another state that has plenty of natural beauty and gorgeous lakes i was a little underwhelmed. But that was probably from it being hyped up so much. Kind of like going to see a movie that's been hyped up for months and you're super excited to see. The expectations might be too high. Although, sometimes it really is just a bad movie. In this case, the lake really was just another beautiful lake, but nothing special. What made the experience so horrible were all the people. I'm not talking about the amount of people, but the amount of snobby and rude people.

While splashing in the water with our kids next to a private beach ( not on the gated private beach. We were on the peasant side. We know our place) this lady was complaining to another lady about the common people who they have to deal with on a regular basis. The other lady assured her that she will get use to it and not even notice these people any more.

Yuck. I wish I had been aware of these type of people and had researched the beaches better. I'd have chosen one with less people and one that was accessible by hiking. Something more private and not ruined by fenced and gated beaches with big houses blocking all the natural beauty.

By all means, go visit this natural beauty. Just be aware if you go to Tahoe city there aren't going to be super friendly people everywhere. We did meet a couple nice people. But not enough beauty in nature or in the people to tempt me go go back again. I suggest going to a less popular beach and hiking in...
